<p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <p>Under the direction of the Swim Director, the Pre Lifeguard associate is responsible for successfully completing all required training and certifications to become a certified lifeguard. This position is also responsible for assisting with safety, cleanliness and operation of the swimming pool during operating hours. The primary function of the Pre- Lifeguard associate will be general support to maintain safety for our members on the pool deck.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Focus on quality experiences and engagement within programs, services, and activities</p> </li><li> <p>Must have understanding of the age and stages of youth development, and work with children</p> </li><li> <p>Support communication between associates and members/parents</p> </li><li> <p>Informing proper leaders of operating challenges, equipment/supply needs, and/or conflicts during operating hours (either with members and/or associates)</p> </li><li> <p>Enforces Y in Central Maryland policies, guidelines, and best practices</p> </li><li> <p>Encourage member engagement and outstanding member experience</p> </li><li> <p>Foster an environment that is positive and motivating to families, children, and peers.</p> </li><li> <p>Effectively coordinate facility usage for assigned programs and activities</p> </li><li> <p>Supports center's annual support campaign and provide leadership support to associate giving and engagement</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work with diverse population, all ages, genders, and sexual orientations</p> </li><li> <p>Attend and actively participate in all meetings as assigned</p> </li><li> <p>Incorporate the four character values of the YMCA: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility and adhere to the YCM Code of Conduct</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate the Y mission and objectives to the community.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in all other areas as assigned.</p> </li></ul>
