<p>Advertised Position Title:</p> <p>Nursing Retention Specialist</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Encourages, assists & directs students to utilize the resources available for self-improvement within Owens Community College, such as the library, computers, practice skills laboratory, student services and blackboard shells. </li><li>Assists final semester students of the nursing programs to prepare for the licensure examination. </li><li>Maintains and updates a collection of learning materials helpful to students </li><li>Prepares and reports data, including referrals, remedial activities, and academic outcomes of students referred by their faculty member. </li><li>Consults with faculty concerning issues that would facilitate student achievement in nursing courses. </li><li>Remains current in resource materials for development learning in nursing and courses that impact success in nursing education. </li><li>Offers content review sessions according to each course. </li><li>Offers success seminars each semester </li><li>Provides tutoring services & remediation sessions as needed to all nursing programs. </li><li>Provides instruction in 6 contact hours each semester </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li><li>Develop/coordinate math proficiency testing and remediation for the nursing programs. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Knowledge of the resources available to the nursing students on the Owens Community College campuses.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of NCLEX test plans for both the RN and PN students.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of the resources available via the web for student's success.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of the nursing programs curriculum plans and curriculum mapping.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate clearly and effectively with students, faculty & staff regarding concerns related to the nursing courses.</p> </li><li> <p>To use computer technology/resources while teaching and remediating students.</p> </li><li> <p>To communicate/instruct effectively in the classroom setting.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to multitask.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to provide students clear and effective feedback for success in the nursing programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to have a professional demeanor and the ability to help the students make positive decisions for their success in the nursing program.</p> </li></ul> <p>Other Characteristics</p> <ul> <li> <p>This individual will bring a positive outlook to every situation, treat all others with respect, kindness, and be eager to assist others.</p> </li><li> <p>Must strive to build strong, positive working relationships with peers, supervisors, and others by listening carefully, asking questions and striving to understand.</p> </li><li> <p>Will represent their program(s), certificate(s), school, and the college as an academic professional in appearance, communication, and behavior.</p> </li><li> <p>This individual will work well as a member of an innovative, effective, and efficient team always looking toward continuous quality improvement and will consistently set and achieve goals in the stated time frame.</p> </li><li> <p>They must take responsibility for their actions, and demonstrate trustworthiness, honesty, and high personal standards.</p> </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree</p> </li><li> <p>Current, valid licensure as a registered nurse in Ohio; or a Multi-state Registered Nurse License</p> </li><li> <p>Completion of an approved registered nursing education program.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience for at least two years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A master's degree; </li></ul> <p>If the individual does not possess a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree, the master's or other academic degree, including, but not limited to a Ph.D., shall be in nursing.</p> <p>o(ii) If the individual possesses a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree, the master's degree may be, but is not required to be, in nursing; and</p> <ul> <li>Certification as a NLN Nurse Educator (CNE), DNP, PhD, EdD </li></ul> <p>Job Classification:</p> <p>Staff</p> <p>Duty Days:</p> <p>180 Days</p> <p>Work Schedule:</p> <p>8am-5pm or when needed in the classroom.</p> <p>Grant Funded Position:</p> <p>No - Not Grant Funded</p> <p>FLSA Status:</p> <p>United States of America (Exempt)</p> <p>Pay Basis:</p> <p>Salary</p> <p>Hiring Range</p> <p>$43,888.00-$45,900.00</p> <p>Retirement System:</p> <p>STRS - STRS (Retirement System Classification)</p>
