<p>Job Ref: 170053 Location: West Sacramento, CA 95691 Location Flexibility: Onsite Category: Logistics and Warehouse Job Type: Full-time Job Status: Non-exempt Pay Basis Hourly Brand UNFI</p> <p>UNFI NorCal Produce in West Sacramento, CA is looking for a Quality Assurance Inspector - Fresh</p> <p>Please note: NorCal Produce is fully a climate controlled warehouse with cold temperatures ranging from 30-35°F degrees</p> <p>PURPOSE:</p> <p>Inspect all incoming shipments of assigned product groups against USDA Good Delivery Guidelines. Inspects all on-hand produce to ensure quality meets the highest standard. Verifies all dated products to ensure the shipping date meets customer expectations on dated products</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <p>60%</p> <ul> <li>Inspects all incoming shipments of assigned product groups, as well as products stored in the warehouse, may rate products according to Company and USDA specifications. </li><li>Maintains necessary inspections and rejection records. </li><li>Accepts or rejects product based on condition, short weight, transit damage, grade, temperature, and other reasons. </li><li>May reject product without further consultation if a product doesn't meet the Company's requirements/standards. </li><li>Fruit Ripening </li><li>Learn and comply with SQF and food safety policies. </li></ul> <p>20%</p> <ul> <li>Conducts daily cooler walks to verify all dated Fresh including dairy, meat, deli, bakery, poultry, and prepared foods inventory has sufficient dating for shipment based on established minimum dating and verify Produce quality, reporting results to the QA Supervisor </li></ul> <p>10%</p> <ul> <li>Makes recommendations to management regarding reduction in shrink. May organize shipping schedule for all items having different degrees of maturity, give shipping instructions to the assembly via warehouse supervision. </li><li>Ensures that shipping crews are provided with daily information on lots to be shipped. </li></ul> <p>10%</p> <ul> <li>Other departmental needs such as Data entry, return processing, cleaning, sorting, training, and other tasks assigned by management </li><li>Performs other relevant job duties as required. </li></ul> <p>JOB REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>0+ years of wholesale/retail experience </li></ul> <p>Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Able to learn the standards for USDA Good Delivery guidelines for Produce </li><li>Strong attention to detail </li><li>Able to operate or be trained and certified to operate lift equipment </li><li>Able to learn Fruit Ripening </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/DEMANDS:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently. </li><li>Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 55 degrees Fahrenheit. </li><li>Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures. </li><li>Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment. </li><li>Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job </li></ul> <p>duties.
