<p>Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine is searching for an On-Call Registration/Scheduler. Responsible for answering and directing incoming calls; scheduling and/or rescheduling clinic appointments; registering and pre-registering patients into the computer system; verifies insurance coverage.</p> <p>To share this posting, please use this link</p> <p>WMed has opportunities for Registration/Scheduler I - Healthcare setting and Customer service preferred. $15.90 - $18.55/hour dependent upon years of equivalent and relevant experience.</p> <p>Registration/Scheduler II - must have 1-2 years health care, customer service and call center. $17.45 - $20.35/hour dependent upon years of experience.</p> <p>Registration/Scheduler III - must have health care, customer service, call center and, insurance verification and billing experience. $19.65 - $22.90/hr dependent upon years of experience.</p> <p>FULL-TIME BENEFITS PACKAGE:</p> <ul> <li>Wellness reimbursement. </li><li>Continuing education and tuition reimbursement. </li><li>Employer-funded retirement plan. </li><li>Two medical plan options: PPO and High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with employer HSA contribution. </li><li>Flexible work solutions based on position and department. </li><li>Up to four weeks of PTO accrual beginning in year one. </li><li>Paid holidays. </li><li>Paid volunteer time. </li><li>Paid preferred holiday. </li><li>No nights, no weekends. </li></ul> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Verifying insurance in the EMR and/or appropriate websites and correcting any errors with coverage. </li><li>Ability to create and print Good Faith Estimates for Self pay and non-participating insurances. </li><li>Backing up the CST to print MCIR's for next day patients. </li><li>Willingness to work at all locations if needed to maintain staffing levels. </li><li>Pre-registration for upcoming appointments by calling patients to collect all correct information. </li><li>Manages all assigned work-ques and in-basket requests. </li><li>Answers and directs department phone calls. </li><li>Schedules and reschedules clinic appointments. </li><li>Enters patient demographic and insurance information into the EMR system. </li><li>Verifies eligibility of managed care patients and collects copays. </li><li>Ensures appropriate paperwork is provided to patients at check-in based on provider requirements. </li><li>Sorts and distributes department mail. </li><li>Provides information to patients regarding billing processes and procedures. </li><li>Entry of patient concerns, refill requests, and routes to appropriate clinic in-basket. </li><li>Manages patient portal requests. </li><li>Monitors office supplies and reorders items as needed. </li><li>Availability to work occasional overtime on weekends or evenings to complete time sensitive projects. </li><li>Acquires knowledge for new technology and policy/procedure revisions. </li><li>All other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or GED required. </li><li>Minimum 1 year experience in a Healthcare setting preferred. </li><li>Minimum 1 year experience in Customer service preferred. </li><li>Minimum 1 year of insurance verification experience preferred. </li><li>Call Center experience preferred. </li><li>Minimum of 1 year experience scheduling appointments for multiple providers preferred. </li><li>Ability to ask for past due balances and copays at time of service. </li><li>Knowledge and proficiency of EMR (Epic), Availity, Medifax, Access, CHAMPS, and internet as required by department a plus. </li></ul> <p>OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Basic word processing and file management using Microsoft Office. </li><li>Knowledge and proficiency in grammar and spelling skills preferred. </li><li>Ability to type with accuracy and speed to meet demand. </li><li>Team oriented. </li><li>Ability to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. </li><li>Knowledge of basic medical terminology a plus. </li><li>Ability to operate automated standard office equipment such as multi-line phone system, copier, fax machine, shredder, etc. </li><li>Participates in professional development classes as suggested by supervisor. </li><li>Strives to learn more and is receptive to new challenges and opportunities. </li><li>Ability to interpret, comprehend, and transmit complicated and detailed instructions accurately. </li><li>Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus. </li><li>Make decisions based on established departmental procedures. </li><li>Demonstrates reliability with punctuality and attendance. </li><li>Ability to accept and apply feedback. </li><li>Regular and predictable attendance is expected. </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities in organization of work flow. </li><li>Able to perform duties independently, with a minimal need for direct supervision. </li></ul>
