<p>Job Description:</p> <p>We invite you to click here to apply: Part Time Paraprofessional</p> <p>POSITION: Part-Time Paraprofessional-Vocational/Job Coach</p> <p>SCHOOL: Amity Transition Academy (Albertus Magnus)</p> <p>STARTING DATE: Aug. 19, 2025 (approx 15 hours per week)</p> <p>SALARY/BENEFITS: In accordance with the Paraprofessional Contract</p> <p>REQUIREMENTS: Associate's Degree or Successful Completion of Parapro Assessment</p> <p>PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS</p> <ul> <li>Sensitive and mature individual </li><li>Demonstrate understanding and ability to work with individuals with disabilities </li><li>Demonstrate a patient and positive attitude </li><li>Confident in ability to handle situations of an emergency or unpredictable nature </li><li>Able to work in a variety of environments </li><li>Work cooperatively and respectfully with all members of the team and community </li><li>Communicate in an effective manner with all members of the team and community </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>The requirements of this job will require the Vocational Paraprofessional to work alongside the students; therefore the Vocational Paraprofessional must be able to physically perform all the same tasks as required of the student which may include but will not be limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Lifting </li><li>Bending </li><li>Climbing Stairs </li><li>Kneeling </li><li>Walking Distances </li><li>Sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time </li><li>Navigating tight areas </li></ul> <p>PROFESSIONAL PREPARATION</p> <ul> <li>Currently possesses or willing to obtain and maintain Basic First Aid and CPR training </li><li>Currently possesses or willing to obtain and maintain Physical Management Training </li><li>Pass background check as required </li></ul> <p>Following experience preferred but not required - 1 or more years direct service delivery in one or more of the following settings:</p> <ul> <li>School </li><li>Vocational setting </li><li>Day care/Day Treatment </li><li>Group home or other residential settings </li><li>Medical facility </li></ul> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Under the supervision of the Transition Teacher, the responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li>Implement the student's IEP as written, collect data as required and prepare reports summarizing such data </li><li>Model and demonstrate appropriate employment, independent living and social skills at all times by creating and maintaining a relationship with the student that is understanding, communicative, and supportive, the same expectation is held for relationships that the Vocations Paraprofessional enters into with Job Site personnel not associated with the Transition School and the community in general </li><li>Ensure that the student is safe socially, emotionally, economically and physically at all times with-in all settings </li><li>Work collaboratively with Special Education Coordinator/Transition Teacher to design student schedules </li><li>Understand and follow all Amity BOE policies, procedures and regulations </li><li>Attend all meetings and trainings as required by Amity BOE and the Transition School including those provided through Global Compliance Network </li></ul> <p>The Amity Board of Education does not knowingly condone discrimination in employment, assignment, program, or services on the basis of race, gender, color, religion, national origin, age, sexual orientation, disability, or unrelated abilities to perform the duties of the position.</p>
