<p>SUMMARY</p> <p>This is a part-time, seasonal position running from June 1, 2026, through August 22, 2026, averaging 10 hours per week, including weekdays and weekends. The primary responsibility of the Lifeguard is to ensure the safety of swimmers in and around the assigned area by preventing accidents and responding quickly and effectively to emergencies to minimize risk and injury.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Arrive properly dressed 10 minutes prior to the scheduled time of duty. </li><li>Learn all emergency procedures and familiarize yourself with the first aid/rescue equipment. </li><li>Check the pool area for hazards when you arrive in the pool. </li><li>Enforce all posted rules while explaining the reasons why and the danger involved. </li><li>Make requests and issues in a courteous and tactful manner. </li><li>Keep the swimming area clean and ready for inspection. </li><li>Scan your area at all times. </li><li>Check chemicals/temperature as directed by your Aquatic Director. </li><li>Know how to use all lifeguarding and first aid equipment, keep it ready, and in good repair. </li><li>Make sure all doors are securely locked when a lifeguard is not on duty. NEVER LEAVE THE POOL UNATTENDED. </li><li>You are responsible for finding your own substitute. See supervisor for clarification. </li><li>No reading materials, cell phones or any other item that could distract you from your guarding responsibility will be permitted on the pool deck. </li><li>Attendance at all staff meetings is mandatory. </li></ul>
