<p>Position Type:</p> <p>2025-2026 Anticipated Openings/Certified Staff</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>2/25/2026</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Hackensack Middle School</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>05/04/2026</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>until filled</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>HACKENSACK PUBLIC SCHOOLS</p> <p>HMS 6TH GRADE CAMP</p> <p>SCHOOL YEAR 2025 -2026</p> <p>Title: 20 Teachers for 6th Grade Camp</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Observe and follow all Hackensack BOE and Camp Mason policies. </li><li>Maintain all AM cabin, Flag Pole, Dining Hall and PM cabin attendance records. </li><li>Supervise all assigned aspects of the campers' day including morning reveille, cabin clean-up, meal times, rest hour, evening activities, bed-time and after hours. </li><li>Responsible for student/camper safety and security in cabin (must remain in cabin overnight). </li><li>Responsible for cleanliness of cabin facilities. </li><li>Recognize and respond to opportunities for problem solving in the group. </li><li>Develop opportunities for interaction between campers and staff. </li><li>Provide opportunities for the group so each individual experiences success during camp. </li><li>Provide opportunities for discussion of individual or group problems/concerns. </li><li>Help students meet the goals established by the camp for camper development. </li><li>Carry out established roles for supervising camper health. </li><li>Carry out established roles in enforcing camp safety regulations. </li><li>Develop cabin or unit activity plans with participants as appropriate. </li><li>Instruct campers in emergency procedures such as fire drills, evacuating the cabin, etc.. </li><li>Help campers plan their participation in unit-wide or camp-wide programs, special events, and activities. </li><li>Assist in teaching or leading an activity, as assigned. </li><li>Prepare for and actively participate in staff training, meetings, and supervisory conferences. </li><li>Responsible for setting a good example for campers in regards to punctuality, sharing clean-up and chores, sportsmanship, and table manners. </li><li>Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment, and facilities. </li><li>Manage personal time off in accordance with camp policy. </li><li>Submit all required reports on time (prior to Friday's departure). </li><li>To fulfill other duties as may be required/assigned by Camp Director. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>NJ Teacher Certification and the following:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Must be available to chaperone both weeks as assigned by Principal and Camp Director</p> </li><li> <p>Desire and ability to work with children outdoors</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to accept supervision and guidance responsibilities</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to assist in teaching an activity</p> </li><li> <p>Good character, integrity, and adaptability</p> </li><li> <p>Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control</p> </li><li> <p>CPR Certification recommended but not required</p> </li></ol> <p>Camp experience considered, but not required.</p> <p>Staffing Summary (Per Week):</p> <p>20 Teachers as selected by Principal and Camp Director</p> <p>Paraprofessionals as needed by law</p> <p>1 or multiple nurse to cover students for 24 hours, all five days</p> <p>Working conditions: All activities are off campus and at the campsite;</p> <p>Week 1: May 4, 2026 - May 8, 2026</p> <p>Week 2: June 8, 2026 - June 12, 2026</p> <p>Application Procedure: Apply online via Frontline/Applitrack</p> <p>Salary: As per HBOE/HEA Agreement - 6th Grade Camp stipend</p> <p>Selection Procedure: Applications will be reviewed and interviews conducted, followed by recommendations made to the Acting Superintendent for Board approval..</p>
