<p>Position Reports to: V.P. of Food Services</p> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities: None</p> <p>FLSA Status: Full-Time/ Non-Exempt</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY & OBJECTIVES:</p> <p>The Cook will be responsible for ensuring food safety, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, adhering to dietary guidelines and regulations while also following federal and state guidelines and observing all relevant sanitation procedures to be ready for inspection. This role requires a dedicated individual who is committed to providing high-quality meals in a school environment.</p> <p>Essential functions:</p> <ul> <li>Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus, recipes and production schedules, ensuring adherence to portion sizes and nutritional guidelines. </li><li>Ensure that all cuisine meets quality standards in terms of taste, texture, and appearance. </li><li>Monitor food supplies and ingredients, communicating with food service supervisor on stock orders. </li><li>Operate all cooking equipment, including all ovens, mixers, steamer, and other small equipment. </li><li>Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste. </li><li>Demonstrate enthusiasm and a dedication to continuous quality improvement in all aspects of the position. </li><li>Adhere to food safety standards and regulations to prevent contamination and to ensure food safety. </li><li>Adhere to student food allergy report and dietary guidelines. </li><li>Regularly stock all trays, condiments and spices. </li><li>Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and awareness by respecting, valuing, and effectively engaging others from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. </li></ul> <p>Additional responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Support initiatives to promote nutrition education and healthy eating habits among students. </li><li>Maintaining flexibility of work schedule according to events or school needs. </li><li>Complete all necessary reports, forms and documentations accurately and timely. </li><li>Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events. </li><li>Train and supervise student workers as assigned. </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned by the Food Service management. </li></ul> <p><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>__</strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></p> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>At least 21 years of age. </li><li>Must be able to work a flexible schedule. </li><li>Minimum education level is a high school diploma or GED </li><li>Current Sanitation Certificate </li><li>No history of child abuse or neglect. </li></ul> <p>Preferred qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Three years' experience in a food service environment. </li><li>A certificate from an accredited technical or vocational school for the completion in culinary arts. </li><li>Experience working with children and youth. </li></ul> <p>_<strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>____</strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></p> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <p>School Cafeteria/Dining Hall Environment, Moderate Noise.
