<p>PRIMARY FUNCTION:</p> <p>Assists the teacher to provide a well organized, smoothly functioning class environment.</p> <p>CLASSROOM RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Assists the teacher in providing instruction to the children, by reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual student needs, interests, and abilities. </li><li>Helps student(s) master equipment and instructional materials assigned by the teacher. </li><li>Alert the teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student. </li><li>Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher. </li><li>Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully certified teachers. </li><li>Assists the teacher in maintaining assigned student(s) discipline. </li><li>May require placing and securing students on a bus. </li></ul> <p>GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes. </li><li>Assists with the supervision of student(s) during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, field trips, in the cafeteria, hallways, and bus duties. </li><li>Escorts student(s) to areas of special instruction; i.e., library, gym, etc. </li><li>Performs other duties as required to maintain the efficient operation of the school. </li><li>Any duties as assigned by the Administration. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work harmoniously with students, teachers and others. </li><li>Ability and willingness to carry over and apply skills from ongoing training. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Have 2 years of college credit or hold an Associates (or higher) degree or evident of passing the Parapro test. </li><li>Willingness to be trained to assist all instructional and behavioral needs of the students. </li><li>Previous experience working with special education students preferred. </li></ul> <p>Salary: as per the current Labor Agreement</p>
