<p>Position Title: Senior Mainframe Modernization Analyst</p> <p>Location: Pearl River, New York (Hybrid: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)</p> <p>Clearance Requirements: None</p> <p>Position Status: Contract</p> <p>Pay Rate: $60/hour on W2 (based on experience)</p> <p>Position Description:</p> <p>Seeking a Senior Mainframe Modernization Analyst to support a large-scale legacy system transformation initiative. This role focuses on analyzing COBOL-based mainframe systems, extracting embedded business logic, and developing data remediation programs and SQL scripts to enable successful migration to modern platforms.</p> <p>The ideal candidate brings deep experience with mainframe technologies, data conversion, and system modernization, along with strong documentation skills to translate complex legacy logic into clear technical and functional specifications.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Analyze COBOL programs and legacy mainframe code to identify business rules and system logic.</p> </li><li> <p>Document system workflows, data structures, and processing logic for modernization teams.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop SQL scripts and data remediation programs for data cleansing and transformation.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform data mapping between legacy systems and modern target architectures.</p> </li><li> <p>Validate migrated datasets for accuracy, completeness, and integrity.</p> </li><li> <p>Support and stabilize production mainframe systems during modernization phases.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilize mainframe utilities such as VSAM, DFSORT, IDCAMS, SAR View, QMF, SPUFI, and File Manager.</p> </li><li> <p>Produce comprehensive documentation including:</p> </li><li> <p>System logic and workflows</p> </li><li> <p>Data mapping specifications</p> </li><li> <p>Conversion and remediation plans</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with developers, system integrators, and cross-functional project teams.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in Agile or hybrid modernization efforts and knowledge transfer sessions.</p> </li></ul> <p>Required Skills/Education:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Advanced proficiency in SQL, including stored procedures and data remediation scripting.</p> </li><li> <p>Extensive experience supporting legacy mainframe production systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong expertise in:</p> </li><li> <p>COBOL 6.4</p> </li><li> <p>CICS TS</p> </li><li> <p>DB2 (v12.1)</p> </li><li> <p>Hands-on experience with:</p> </li><li> <p>VSAM, DFSORT, IDCAMS, SAR View</p> </li><li> <p>QMF, SPUFI, File Manager, CA Intertest</p> </li><li> <p>Proven experience with data mapping, system conversion, and migration initiatives.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to clearly translate complex legacy logic into functional and technical documentation.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with CICS Web Interface, web services, or API integrations. </li><li>Experience with MQ or messaging platforms. </li><li>Familiarity with Java, C++, or Python. </li><li>Experience supporting utility or work management systems. </li><li>Knowledge of Agile methodologies. </li><li>Proficiency with Visio and PowerPoint for technical documentation. </li></ul> <p>About Seneca Resources</p> <p>At Seneca Resources, we are more than just a staffing and consulting firm-we are a trusted career partner.
