<p>THE ROLE: Data Analytics Engineer</p> <p>American Student Assistance (ASA) is national nonprofit that is changing the way kids learn about careers and prepare for their futures through access to career-readiness information and experiences.</p> <p>ASA fulfills its mission through free digital-first direct experiences, philanthropy, advocacy, thought leadership, groundbreaking research, and impact investing. We believe that exploring career possibilities, as early as middle school, and providing access to education-to-career pathways aligned with one's passions and goals will result in greater confidence and long-term success for all students.</p> <p>We are looking for a Data Analytics Engineer. This role will lead the design, automation, and governance of scalable data models and pipelines using the modern data stack: DBT, Rivery, Snowflake/BigQuery, Tableau. Reporting to the Vice President of Technology, you will play a pivotal role in enabling data-driven decision making across the entire organization through curated, trustworthy data models, robust analytics infrastructure, and powerful data visualizations.</p> <p>What You'll Do:</p> <ul> <li>Drive business impact by identifying and acquiring or mining data from multiple and diverse sources for actionable insights (including HRIS systems, external commercial or open-source data sources, digital session web data, Salesforce and other CRM/CDP/IAM platforms, Google Analytics and Google BigQuery, etc.). </li><li>Manage the inflow and governance of that data as we warehouse it for staging, processing, and reporting, while building proper data quality detection to identify data issues in the transformation stages and fix problems to meet pipelines/table health SLAs, etc. </li><li>Deliver timely and high-quality analytics to internal and external stakeholders across the entire organization to facilitate data-informed decisions </li><li>Work collaboratively across all of ASA's business units to suggest better use of existing data and - as importantly - to identify the areas where more or better data can be acquired and work with stakeholders to build plans to collect </li></ul> <p>About You:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in computer science, Math, Statistics, Engineering or other quantitative field or equivalent demonstrable experience in this domain </li><li>5+ years in a data analyst, business analytics engineer, business intelligence analyst, data scientist, or data analyst or related role with competencies in SQL and object-oriented programming (preferably Python) </li><li>Expertise in business intelligence, data visualization and dashboarding platforms (e.g., Tableau, Dataiku, Looker, etc.) </li><li>Strong knowledge of data management and modern data warehouse (Snowflake, Big Query) and ELT data acquisition/model building tools (e.g., Rivery), as well as DBT </li><li>Demonstrated excellent code writing abilities in programming languages like SQL (Structured Query Language), and Python-based statistical libraries like numpy, pandas, and scikit-learn </li><li>Experience in dimensional data modeling and schema design, statistics and predictive modeling </li><li>Curiosity and critical thinking skills </li><li>Ability to think and research creatively, possesses strong exploratory data analysis and problem-solving skills </li><li>Extensive knowledge of industry best practice and a willingness to continuously improve and deepen their own skills </li><li>Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to bridge the gap between data and business by helping to mine data and information for insights that ultimately provide to strategic direction </li><li>Experience with digital and web analytics desired </li><li>Experience with machine learning algorithms and transformer-based tools integrations a plus! </li></ul> <p>Why ASA?</p> <p>ASA offers a wide range of perks and benefits to Associates, including comprehensive medical, dental, and vision healthcare plans, a retirement plan (plus match), weekly lunches, commuter benefits, and tuition reimbursement.</p> <p>We also heavily prioritize a healthy work/life balance, which is why we offer all full-time associates generous PTO options, Summer Fridays (every Friday off between Memorial Day and Labor Day), and a company holiday break between December 25th and January 1st.</p> <p>ASA works in a Hybrid schedule (2) two days a week in our Boston HQ.
