<p>JOB DESCRIPTION</p> <p>The Staff Accountant, Student Accounts & Financial Reporting plays a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial data related to student accounts and institutional reporting. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President for Finance and works closely with Student Accounts Receivable to ensure timely monthly reconciliations and alignment between the Jenzabar general ledger and the general ledger in Blackbaud Financial Edge. The role also supports monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, prepares financial reports, and ensures financial data is accessible and reliable for business decision-making. Standard office environment with periodic deadlines tied to month-end, quarter-end, and audit cycles.</p> <p>JOB RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Student Accounts Receivable and General Ledger Alignment</p> <ul> <li>Work closely with Student Accounts Receivable and Financial Aid to complete monthly reconciliations between Jenzabar and Blackbaud Financial Edge. </li><li>Identify, research, and resolve discrepancies to ensure accurate alignment of receivables, revenue, and related accounts across systems. </li><li>Support accurate posting of student payments, adjustments, refunds, and third-party transactions. </li><li>Document processes and provide guidance to operational staff as needed to support consistency and accuracy. </li></ul> <p>Monthly Close and Financial Reporting</p> <ul> <li>Perform monthly close activities, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis. </li><li>Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for internal use, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and usefulness for management decision-making. </li><li>Maintain assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts. </li><li>Ensure financial data is organized, accessible, and appropriately supported for internal review and audit purposes. </li></ul> <p>Additional Accounting and Finance Support</p> <ul> <li>Assist with external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation. </li><li>Support process improvement efforts related to accounting, reporting, and system integration. </li><li>Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and special projects as assigned. </li><li>Perform other accounting and finance duties as needed. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATIONAL OR OTHER HIRING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Two or more years of accounting experience, preferably in higher education or a non-profit environment. Experience with general ledger accounting and account reconciliations. Proficiency with accounting systems; experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge and/or Jenzabar student account systems preferred. Strong Excel skills and ability to work with financial data. Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through. Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively across departments.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Experience reconciling data between multiple financial systems. Familiarity with higher education accounting practices.
