<p>Apply</p> <p>Description</p> <p>To assist in meeting the goals, objectives and mission of the organization by assisting the Dentist in the direct care of patients</p> <p>Principal Accountabilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>To act as chair side assistant to the dentist, preparing necessary materials and equipment for various dental procedures</p> </li><li> <p>To assist the dentist by listening and responding to request for materials and equipment during various dental procedures</p> </li><li> <p>Takes x-rays</p> </li><li> <p>To participate in in-service workshops, and quality assurance activities as may be required by the department</p> </li><li> <p>To work closely with the dentist and dental staff in improving productivity and efficiency</p> </li><li> <p>Take preliminary medical histories and vital signs to be reviewed by the dentist</p> </li><li> <p>Place and remove rubber dams</p> </li><li> <p>Take impressions for study casts or diagnostic casts</p> </li><li> <p>Take impressions for space maintainers, orthodontic appliances and occlusal guards</p> </li><li> <p>Remove temporary cement (not including temporary fillings)</p> </li><li> <p>Apply topical anticariogenic agents to the teeth</p> </li><li> <p>Apply desensitizing agents to the teeth</p> </li><li> <p>Place and remove temporary separating devices</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties and responsibilities as requested by the supervisor</p> </li></ol> <p>Requirements</p> <p>Knowledge/Education Requirements:</p> <p>Graduate from an ADA accredited dental assisting and CPR certification, or</p> <p>High school graduate (or equivalent) and minimum of two full years work experience as a Dental Assistant</p> <p>Maintain certification including meeting all necessary continuing education requirements</p> <p>Demonstrate proper judgment and decision-making skills when necessary</p> <p>Comply with the organizations code of conduct, safety rules and adheres to all company policies</p> <p>Carry out job responsibilities in an ethical, effective and professional manner</p> <p>Must be willing and demonstrate the ability to cooperate, work, and communicate with coworkers and supervisors</p> <p>Must demonstrate computer proficiency with Microsoft Suite and electronic medical record system</p> <p>Must possess a willingness to accept direction from providers and supervisors; must possess the ability to work well and with compassion in stressful situations; must maintain a professional and courteous demeanor with both patients and co-workers</p> <p>Must be keenly aware of the importance of confidentiality in all aspects of the position</p>
