<p>Job Description</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>Provides group fitness instruction. Educates patrons on fitness and safety and maintains a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for class participants.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Grade 12</p> <p>Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.</p> <p>Must be able to teach a specialty Fitness Course through hands-on-experience.</p> <p>Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required pre-employment background check and subsequent mandatory background checks in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.</p> <p>Grade 13</p> <p>Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.</p> <p>Must be able to teach a specialty Fitness Course through hands-on experience and obtain a Fit Tour Group Exercise instructor certification or other group fitness certification accredited by NCCA, or equivalent certifications within 90 days of date of hire.</p> <p>Must obtain a CPR certification within 90 days of date of hire.</p> <p>Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required pre-employment background check and subsequent mandatory background checks in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Teaches scheduled classes; provides adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching, and cool down. </li><li>Instructs patrons on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises; identifies different muscle groups, and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles. </li><li>Prepares appropriate equipment, music, and handouts for each class. </li><li>Organizes class space. Stores all equipment and returns room to its original arrangement. </li><li>Assists patrons, answers questions, and maintains a positive exercise experience for members and class participants. </li><li>Keeps management informed of customer and facility needs. </li><li>Ensures that safety standards are met. </li><li>Adapt exercises for the level of strength or frailty of each participant. </li><li>Participate in training opportunities provided by sponsoring organization. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Conditions will vary according to course taught. </li><li>May work with various ages, skill and ability levels. </li><li>Physical activity may include bending, lifting, active play, working with machinery. </li><li>Must be willing to travel to various class sites and meetings. </li><li>Ability to carry up to 50 lbs. (equipment, weights, etc.). </li></ul> <p>IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION</p> <ul> <li>Hours will vary according to course schedule, preparation time, and meetings. </li><li>Pay based on teaching experience and education and specific to each program area. </li></ul> <p>TEMPORARY POSITIONS:</p> <p>An "At Will", FLSA non-exempt employee who is not eligible for County benefits and who must work an average of 29 hours or less per week or an average of 129 hours or less per month.</p> <ul> <li>Must work an average of 29 hours or less per week or an average of 129 hours or less per month. </li><li>Are not eligible for County benefits except as otherwise provided for by policy. </li><li>Are not considered merit employees. </li><li>Are "at will" employees who may be terminated for any reason, without notice, and without a pre-termination hearing. </li></ul>
