As a member of the Vehicle Controls team, you will work closely with our Navigation Software team on advancing the capability of Tesla's in-house traffic prediction and routing algorithms that serve our customer cars today and will serve our future Robotaxis. You will apply a combination of basic physics modeling of the world, along with strong skillsets in statistical analysis, operations research, and machine learning to help improve our systems.

Tesla vehicles collect many terabytes of data per day. You will work on problems spanning aggregating Tesla fleet data to improve our in-house traffic prediction models, improving accuracy of ETA provided by the navigation system, improving route quality, and more.

Analysis of large-scale data and statistics from the Tesla fleet to inform traffic prediction and routing algorithms/features

Design, analysis, and prototype new algorithms and features to improve traffic prediction accuracy and customer experience

Collaborate with Tesla Navigation Software Engineers to implement, validate and deploy these algorithms at scale

Design and implement test plans, build pipelines and tools to ensure quality of trip planning algorithms deployed to our customers

Collaborate with Validation teams to ensure regression are prevented and rollouts are successful

Technical communication of analysis results?and tradeoffs to decision makers?and cross-functional teams

Degree in Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability

Fluency with exploratory statistical analysis and testing on large data sets

Strong evidence of ability to ground-up design, analyze, and implement a forecasting or optimization scheme for any real-world application

Strong evidence of ability to collaborate cross-functionally, work hands-on, and execute on open-ended projects in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment

Experience with using machine learning techniques on prediction problems

Proficiency in Python and Golang, and experience with collaborative code development

Experience with some flavor of traffic and routing algorithms, preferred
