We learn, grow, and achieve more - in our careers and in our communities.</p> <p>Job Description Summary:</p> <p>The director of Sterile Processing is a key leadership role providing coordination and direction for the Sterile Processing department (SPD) a 24-hour/day, 7 days/week operation. The director is responsible for overseeing SPD Operations at one or more caresites within OhioHealth's Ohio geographic footprint. This role is expected to translate strategic goals of the organization into core business initiatives for SPD operations for assigned caresites. In collaboration with the system director, hospital and executive leadership teams, associates, physicians, and other key stakeholders this leader ensures operational excellence to all Clinical Services to provide clean, sterile, accurate, timely, and functional surgical instruments and equipment for exceptional patient care. This position is responsible for Sterile Processing operations within the designated care site(s) and will ensure planning, implementation, and direction for ongoing activities, processes, and quality assurance initiatives to achieve clinical excellence in the Sterile Processing operations within OhioHealth. This role will fulfill supervisory, budgetary, administrative, clinical and business responsibilities for the designated care site(s). In addition, the SPD director will work in a highly matrixed fashion with key internal and external stakeholders at one or more caresites.</p> <p>Responsibilities And Duties:</p> <p>30%</p> <p>Patient Care and Safety/Regulations Ensures TJC and other regulatory compliance focus on ensuring no serious or sentinel events resulting from work in SP d . Ensures that environment / equipment is dependable and functioning properly. Coordinates care in collaboration with surgical/procedural areas as well as surgery inventory. Accountable for the ongoing delivery of properly prepared instrumentation and supplies.</p> <p>20%</p> <p>Departmental Operations Acts as a vital resource for daily operations and provides guidance to front line managers. Evaluates performance of direct reports. Directs recruitment, selection, and retention through system educator, supervisors, and manager s . Develops and implements improvement plans. Ensures collaborative, highly productive, positive relationships with all departments. Directs, develops, maintains, and evaluates effectiveness of position control and budget. Assists managers with trouble shooting, coordinating, and examining the variables of impact to the workforce. Oversees the planning of annual operating and capital budgets. Manages resources within established budget for department operations at designated care site s . Performs and provides guidance on budget variance reports Holds direct reports accountable for maintaining productivity metrics 100% or expected yearly target s . Monitors surgical volumes, workload demands, and case complexity or case mix shift. Oversees the processes for ensuring constant review of inventory and coordinates with surgery for securing new purchases.</p> <p>30%</p> <p>Leadership Provides ongoing guidance and mentoring to managers/supervisors to ensure all associates are apprised of workload demands, changing regulations, industry guidelines, and changing priorities to maintain quality and safety. Attends any/all hospital, executive, and staff meetings when scheduled or when appropriate. Provides detailed communication related to organizational changes and important information to associates and managers. Passionately and effectively devotes time and energy to the professional development of associates Facilitates positive environment and engages associates and managers Identifies methods to achieve and monitor set standards Provides support to managers/supervisors and associates Conducts regular meetings with leadership and physicians to identify issues and provide solutions. Promotes and facilitates positive customer service and addresses associated issues Ensures that educational and training programs are being executed; seeks outside resources as appropriate; works to overcome and address challenges that may be present in highly diverse workforce</p> <p>20%</p> <p>Information Technology Must be skillful in complex information systems and data bases EPIC, PeopleSoft, Impress, and other systems that are essential for ongoing daily management and operations in SPD/Surgery y at the designated care site s . Employee is expected to all perform other duties as requested by supervisor.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree (Required)</p> <p>Additional Job Description:</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree (or actively pursuing) in Nursing, Business Administration, or Healthcare related field. Sterilization and surgical standards (AAMI, AORN, IAHCSMM), surgical Experience, diversity management and leadership. Effective use of personal computer technology for generating reports, trending information, and creating presentations. Strategic thinking and analytical skills. Excellent relationship and team skills. Customer service skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Physician relations.
