You'll be the point person for critical decisions during non-business hours, ensuring everything runs smoothly while others are off the clock.</p> <p>If you have a strong sense of accountability, experience in security or supervision, and can lead with calm under pressure, this role is built for you. Step into a position where your presence makes a real impact every night.</p> <p>#LI-KR1</p> <p>Job Description Summary</p> <p>Providing a safe, secure environment for our workforce and visitors is essential at Nationwide. Our Security team monitors security needs and assist associates with security and safety-related issues. If you are safety focused, an effective communicator, detail oriented and ready to serve and protect our associates and the public, we want to know more about you!</p> <p>As a Security Guard Supervisor, you'll contribute to the secure environment at Nationwide facilities. You'll plan and oversee the duties and responsibilities of the uniformed security officers (Nationwide associates or contract associates). You'll also assist the Security Manager in planning, organizing and managing the programs and processes to assure physical security and life safety functions for Nationwide and its subsidiaries.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Supervises the duties and responsibilities as well as the operational procedures of the uniformed security officers (Nationwide associates or contract associates).</p> </li><li> <p>Supervises the planning of security protection for company special events.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides security, audit, review and recommendations for Nationwide properties.</p> </li><li> <p>Recommends purchases of security equipment, including security force uniforms, personal equipment, access control, alarm and camera systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists the leadership in the development of security and life safety programs to maintain and/or improve the level of security at all Nationwide properties.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervises the implementation of security and life safety programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in handling the investigation of associate loss/theft reports and develops and maintains programs to minimize internal theft and losses.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides liaison between law enforcement, the court system, outside educational facilities and outside contract security sources.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervises and maintains knowledge of the latest state-of-the-art security equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Manages associates including: performance management, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow planning, hiring and placement, and disciplinary actions.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in maintaining the fire warden and health safety programs.</p> </li></ul> <p>May perform other responsibilities as assigned.</p> <p>Reporting Relationships: Reports to: Security Manager; manages a team of 10 or more security leads and guards.</p> <p>Typical Skills and Experiences:</p> <p>Education: Undergraduate studies in education, business administration, criminal justice, private security, or other related area preferred.</p> <p>Experience: Typically, five or more years demonstrated experience in the private sector of the security industry in a leadership position. Experience in handling all types of security related emergencies.</p> <p>Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Must have a familiarity with all laws governing private security as well as normal security programs for life/safety and property protection. Must be familiar with enterprise security policies and procedures. Proven knowledge with budgeting and project administration. Able to conduct risk assessment and recommend security countermeasures. Able to supervise security employees in a variety of emergency situations as well as handle high stress situations. Must possess basic law enforcement skills, including communication, first responder techniques, crime scene investigation, care and operation of firearms, and progressive use of force.</p> <p>Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.</p> <p>Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the Associate Vice President, Corporate Security, and Human Resources.</p> <p>Values: Regularly and consistently demonstrates Nationwide Values.</p> <p>Job conditions:</p> <p>Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt).</p> <p>Working Conditions: Must be able to work flexible office hours to include weekends, holidays, special event coverage or emergency situations as needed.
