<p>The primary task of an instructor at Chattahoochee Valley Community College is to instruct students in activities designed to promote intellectual growth. Essential duties and responsibilities of an instructor include commitments to students in the classroom, the teaching discipline, students outside the classroom, to the College, and to the community. </p> <p>Salary: This nine-month position will carry a 60% load. Salary level will be determined by the educational attainment and years of directly applicable experience at 60% of the salary according to Salary Schedule D-1 ($46,950-$94,363). Summer employment may be available (an additional amount of $14,384-$29,184), but is not guaranteed.</p> <p>Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications as indicated on this vacancy notice and must submit a completed online application packet through the online application system by the deadline date in order to be considered for this position. Letter(s) must come from current and/or former employers, verifying employment experience to meet minimum required qualifications and for appropriate placement on the salary schedule. Letter(s) must include employment dates, employment status, and job title, and be on official letterhead with an authorized personnel signature.</p> <p>Application materials, including transcripts, must provide documentation that the applicant meets all minimum qualifications. Degrees must be posted on transcripts.</p> <p>Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for application; however, the College may request official transcripts before extending an employment agreement to the successful candidate. include the following: (Other duties may be assigned by the Department Chair, Dean of Instruction, or President.)</p> <p>Commitment to Students in the Classroom:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Designs and administers at least three evaluations for grade determination each semester.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates knowledge in the teaching field.</p> </li><li> <p>Teaches assigned classes.</p> </li><li> <p>Meets classes for scheduled periods of time.</p> </li><li> <p>Organizes, instructs, and supervises nursing students in classroom and clinical settings as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Carries out all assignments according to schedule.</p> </li><li> <p>Uses written objects as criteria for evaluation of student performance.</p> </li><li> <p>Uses appropriate teaching-learning aids, materials, and methodologies, and utilizes instructional technology to enhance the teaching and learning process.</p> </li><li> <p>Develops and delivers Web-based instruction.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains accurate class records.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares course syllabi and objectives in conjunction with departmental guidelines.</p> </li><li> <p>Submits syllabi to the Chief Academic Officer for approval</p> </li><li> <p>Distributes syllabi and objectives in all classes.</p> </li></ol> <p>Commitment to Teaching Discipline:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Engages in appropriate professional development in order to remain current in discipline and teaching techniques.</p> </li><li> <p>Masters software as needed in order to enhance instruction.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates willingness to assist colleagues with instruction ideas and methodologies.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in departmental selection of texts and teaching materials.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in the development, evaluation, and revision of nursing curricula, including the clinical components, to ensure maximum student competency.</p> </li><li> <p>Recommends appropriate supplementary and complementary subject materials to the Learning Resource Center.</p> </li><li> <p>Plans, implements, and evaluates both introductory and advanced courses appropriate to the community college level discipline.</p> </li></ol> <p>Commitment to Students Outside the Classroom:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Maintain appropriate office hours.</p> </li><li> <p>Serves as an academic advisor for students as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in all College registration activities (advance registration, New Student Experience, late registration, and drop/add).</p> </li><li> <p>Attends student functions.</p> </li><li> <p>Responds to student questions/emails in a timely manner.</p> </li></ol> <p>Commitment to the College:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Maintains regular and predictable attendance.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains a minimum of thirty-five (35) hour work week.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains and submits all required records and reports, including class records and reports.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in writing reports as required by the Alabama State Board of Nursing, the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, and the Accreditation Commission of Education in Nursing.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in the College's planning process.</p> </li><li> <p>Serves on institutional committees.</p> </li><li> <p>Attends all required academic functions (i.e., departmental meetings, faculty meetings, graduation, etc.)</p> </li><li> <p>Attends campus activities outside the normal work hours, whenever possible.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs duties within established time frames (i.e., submission of class/office hour forms, class rosters, course grades, reports, etc.)</p> </li><li> <p>Follows up with students regarding job placement and workplace success for reporting purposes (student outcome tracking).</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain records and support certification efforts for nursing.</p> </li><li> <p>Aggressively recruits students for the program and the College at large.</p> </li></ol> <p>Commitment to the Community:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Demonstrates a willingness to serve as resource person in area of expertise for community organizations, businesses, schools, or special events.</p> </li><li> <p>Represents the institution in a positive manner.</p> </li></ol> <p>Other Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Maintains confidentiality of identified sensitive information and departmental information.</p> </li><li> <p>Adheres to all policies and procedures set forth by the College.</p> </li><li> <p>As a Campus Security Authority (CSA), report to the official or office designated by the institution to collect crime report information, such as the campus police or security department, those allegations of Clery Act crimes that the CSA concludes were made in good faith.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains currency of professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education.</p> </li><li> <p>Interacts with and serves diverse student and employee populations in a courteous and friendly manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Adheres to College standards of professionalism and confidentiality, including courteous and friendly interaction with other CVCC employees.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in the College's graduation ceremony.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ol> <ul> <li>Master's degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution </li><li>Must possess active, unencumbered nursing licensure in Alabama and Georgia or a multi-state license </li><li>Two years' clinical experience as a registered nurse </li><li>Ability to incorporate instructional technology innovations into the classroom curriculum </li><li>Effective oral and written communication skills; proficiency in the English language. </li><li>Competent use of the Microsoft Office suite </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Teaching experience at the ADN or LPN level. </li><li>Successful teaching experience in a
