Ranked 35 among national universities, Boston College has 888 full-time and 1,281 FTE faculty, 2,711 non-faculty employees, an operating budget of $1.4 billion, and an endowment in excess of $3.5 billion.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Fiscal & Grant Specialist, Connell School of Nursing</p> <p>Working directly with the Assistant Director, Fiscal & Grant Administration, the Fiscal & Grant Specialist's primary responsibility is the financial management of research projects, both internally and externally funded. They are the primary contact for processing financial reimbursements and invoices related to these research projects. They will also reconcile monthly any purchasing card transactions on these projects and work to ensure appropriate charges are posted. They will maintain budget trackers and work closely with faculty members to ensure expenses are posted within budget guidelines. They provide financial analysis support to the Assistant Director, Fiscal & Grant Administration and Associate Dean, Finance & Administration, and assists with budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.</p> <p>Fiscal and Grant Processing - 70%</p> <ul> <li>Submit departmental and interdepartmental budget transfers through the PeopleSoft system. </li><li>Process faculty/staff reimbursement on external grants and internal funding , start-up accounts and internal awards in the PeopleSoft system. </li><li>For signed contracts, set up purchase orders in the PeopleSoft system. Process vouchers against these purchase orders and track remaining spend. </li><li>Process non-purchase order vouchers and ensure charge is appropriate and in line with budget. </li><li>Prepare purchasing card reconciliations monthly by gathering receipts and ensure appropriateness of charges. </li><li>Coordinate UGRF hiring process with other responsible parties within the school. </li><li>Maintain budget files and Manage faculty and staff travel request process and available funds as well as all related transactions. </li></ul> <p>Human Resources Administration - 10%</p> <ul> <li>Assist in the review of timecards submitted through Kronos for UGRFs and hourly employees working on grants. </li><li>Trouble shoot issues as needed. </li></ul> <p>Financial Analysis/Forecasting - 10%</p> <ul> <li>Assist in budgeting and short- and long-range forecasting/planning projections of external awards and internally funded projects in CSON. </li><li>Monitor use and availability of funds via PeopleSoft. Resolve inconsistencies and refer acute issues to Associate Dean as needed. </li><li>Compile, manipulate, and analyze data from various sources; provide ad hoc and canned reports through Excel and/or PeopleSoft; provide recommendations to inform decision-making. </li></ul> <p>Administrative Support - 10%</p> <ul> <li>Problem-solve for students, staff and faculty. </li><li>Be available for special projects at the request of the Associate Dean and Assistant Director, Fiscal & Grants Administration </li><li>Serve as a point of contact for issues and determine the involvement of other parties as needed. </li></ul> <p>The Fiscal & Grant Specialist must gather information and assess needs related to CSON resources. This position's regular and ongoing assessment is of critical importance in decisions made by the Associate Dean for Finance and Administration involving financial and human resources within the school. They are responsible for maintaining documentation of financial policies related to grants, internal awards and start-up funds. They will coordinate and project the funds provided for some faculty travel, grant expenses and undergraduate research fellows.</p> <p>This position requires timely completion of an array of complex projects amidst frequent interruptions. Often the job requires juggling numerous time-sensitive projects, each with its own set of multi-faceted details and procedural steps. A broad knowledge of systems, both university systems and technology systems, is required. Another important challenge is that of taking a positive, customer-focused role to facilitate workflow.</p> <p>Requires sound decision making, strong ability to manage up and understanding of organizational operations. Requires respect for others and confidence in leading and supervising in a work place setting. Strong financial understanding and ability to analyze data to reach recommendations for use of funds. Ability to communicate to management as well as staff levels. Ability to interpret financials transactions and project long-term outcomes as a result of data.</p> <p>Hiring Range: $26.76/hr to $33.43/hr. Pay rate commensurate with relevant experience.</p> <p>Requirements</p> <p>A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field is preferred but not required.</p> <p>A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a demanding, finance-focused setting is highly valued. Strong experience in financial operations, including budgeting process and processing financial data, is a significant advantage.</p> <p>We are seeking a candidate with a proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are paramount. This role requires a collaborative approach to problem-solving, as well as the capacity to take a leadership role in resolving complex issues. The candidate must possess excellent quantitative and technical skills, including advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with financial management systems such as PeopleSoft Financials.
