<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Administration/Coordinator</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>12/11/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Sheridan High School/Denver, CO</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>ASAP</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Position: Career Technical Educator (Construction)</p> <p>Location: Sheridan High School - 200 days</p> <p>Reports to: Principal / CTE Director/EDCCR</p> <p>Salary Range: $84,000 - $119,000</p> <p>Application Deadline: Open until filled</p> <p>POSITION OVERVIEW:</p> <p>Sheridan High School is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Construction Trades and Engineering Teacher to deliver a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in the construction industry and/or post-secondary education in construction- and engineering-related fields. The successful candidate will inspire students through hands-on learning, practical application of construction theory, and a strong emphasis on safety.</p> <p>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Curriculum Development:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with Colorado CTE Construction standards. </li><li>Integrate theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on projects in a safe learning environment. </li></ul> <p>Instructional Delivery:</p> <p>Teach a wide range of construction-related topics, including:</p> <ul> <li>Basic construction math and blueprint reading </li><li>Tool safety and usage </li><li>Framing techniques </li><li>Roofing and siding installation </li><li>Basic electrical and plumbing systems </li><li>Concrete work </li><li>Interior finishing techniques </li></ul> <p>Hands-on Learning and Safety Emphasis:</p> <ul> <li>Supervise students during lab activities and real-world construction projects. </li><li>Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment. </li><li>Promote and enforce rigorous safety protocols, including PPE use and hazard identification. </li></ul> <p>Industry Partnerships:</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with local construction companies to arrange guest speakers, field trips, internships, apprenticeships, and job-shadowing opportunities. </li><li>Develop, organize, and implement field trips, job shadowing experiences, and industry visits for students, providing hands-on exposure to career pathways and real-world workplace environments. </li><li>Coordinate with local businesses, industry partners, and school staff to ensure meaningful, safe, and educational experiences that support students' career readiness. </li></ul> <p>Student Support, Assessment, and Evaluation:</p> <ul> <li>Assess student competency through practical demonstrations, written assessments, and project evaluations. </li><li>Provide individualized guidance on academic progress, career planning, and post-graduation PATHWAYS. </li></ul> <p>PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Maintain and monitor inventory of tools, materials, and other construction supplies in the CTE building, ensuring resources are properly stored, accounted for, and readily available for instructional and student use. </li><li>Actively coach the SkillsUSA student organization to develop leadership and teamwork skills (some travel required). </li><li>Participate in CTE activities and meet all state reporting and compliance requirements. </li><li>Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all school and district policies. </li><li>Attend staff meetings and engage in collaborative planning with colleagues. </li><li>Perform all other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Must possess a current State of Colorado Secondary CTE Architecture and Construction Credential and/or CTE Engineering Credential, or ability to obtain within the first year of employment. </li><li>Proven hands-on experience in the construction industry. </li><li>Strong knowledge of current building codes and safety regulations. </li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Colorado teaching license </li><li>Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Building Trades, Engineering, or a related field. </li><li>Experience supervising students in a lab or workshop environment. </li><li>Prior experience in secondary education or CTE programs. </li><li>Knowledge of emerging construction technologies. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Clear CBI/FBI background check and clean driving record required. </li><li>Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 5 to 50 pounds frequently. </li><li>Capable of sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods. </li><li>Exposure to varying weather conditions during outdoor activities. </li><li>Manual dexterity and near/far vision for operating tools and equipment. </li></ul>
