Passion, commitment, and a great team spirit all speak to the team members at Gray.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Who we want… (Requirements)</p> <p>NexGen Contracting is seeking a skilled and motivated Construction Surveyor Lead to lead field survey operations on a variety of construction projects. This role is responsible for supervising survey crews, performing and verifying field data collection, and ensuring the accuracy of construction layouts and as-built surveys. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership ability, and a collaborative mindset to help deliver high-quality results across multiple active job sites.</p> <ul> <li>A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in land and construction surveying, with 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role. </li><li>A High School Diploma or GED is required. </li><li>A solid background in as-built surveys, utility mapping, construction stakeout, and site development. </li><li>Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (v2017 or newer) and COGO software, with strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat. Topcon Office, Field, Tools software preferred. </li><li>Demonstrated experience using modern survey equipment: robotic total stations, GPS/GNSS systems, data collectors, and automatic levels. </li><li>Experience in Sokkia/Topcon equipment preferred. </li><li>A strong understanding of civil plans, boundary determination, construction layout, and land development regulations. </li><li>SIT (Surveyor-in-Training) certification or other industry credentials preferred. </li><li>Must be able to travel up to 90% of the time to various job sites throughout the region, including potential assignments at military installations. </li><li>A professional demeanor, strong communication skills, and a collaborative mindset. </li><li>Comfortable working at heights and in below-ground and/or confined spaces, including high-rise structures and underground environments. </li></ul> <p>The new team member should be an energetic, self-motivated individual who enjoys a team environment, as well as a passion for collaboration and professional development. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p>What we expect… (Essential Functions)</p> <ul> <li>Lead and supervise a field survey crew, ensuring all fieldwork is conducted safely, efficiently, and accurately. </li><li>Coordinate and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, project managers, and office personnel across multiple ongoing projects. </li><li>Verify existing site conditions, ensuring the accuracy of third-party data and alignment with design plans. </li><li>Conduct pre-survey planning sessions with engineers and project stakeholders to define scope and expectations. </li><li>Perform construction layout, topographic, and control surveys, including the use of GPS and robotic total stations. </li><li>Process field data into base survey files using AutoCAD Civil 3D or TopCon Office and generate topographic maps, grade sheets, and other deliverables. </li><li>Conduct field calculations, set survey control, and install construction stakes per project specs. </li><li>Maintain detailed and organized survey records, field notes, and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards. </li><li>Mentor and train field staff on modern survey techniques, safety practices, and proper equipment use. </li><li>Represent the company professionally in all interactions and uphold company values at every stage of project delivery. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands & Work Environment</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
