<p>Position Overview: This is a specialized position for a Lead Educator in a therapeutic learning classroom designed for students identified with emotional disabilities and/or multiple disabilities. The educator will provide therapeutic oversight, ensuring that all interventions and supports align with best practices for students with complex emotional needs. The educator must be trained, or willing to be trained, in district-sanctioned Safety-Care or equivalent crisis prevention and intervention protocols, including physical management techniques, and will serve as the primary lead for the therapeutic team assigned to these students.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities: At his/her assigned school(s), and in accordance with the provisions of the Massachusetts General Laws, the teacher's duties shall include, but are not limited to, the following:</p> <p>Plan and deliver individualized, therapeutic, and academic instruction aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, adapted to meet the unique needs of students with emotional disabilities.</p> <p>Establish and maintain a structured, supportive classroom environment that fosters social-emotional development, safety, and academic progress.</p> <p>Provide therapeutic leadership within the classroom, collaborating with counselors, BCBA, school psychologists, and paraprofessionals to support each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).</p> <p>Lead and supervise assigned support staff and paraprofessionals in the classroom, ensuring cohesive, consistent implementation of therapeutic strategies and safety protocols.</p> <p>Implement and monitor behavior support plans, utilizing Safety-Care training techniques, including physical management as appropriate, to safely manage crisis situations and promote student regulation and growth.</p> <p>Ensure compliance with district policies regarding therapeutic supports and student safety, including documentation and reporting requirements.</p> <p>Work closely with families and external providers to ensure a collaborative approach to student success, including regular communication and participation in team meetings.</p> <p>Properly supervise pupils to ensure health, safety, and positive peer interactions, in accordance with therapeutic best practices.</p> <p>Collaborate with general and special education colleagues as part of a professional learning community, contributing to curriculum development and school-wide initiatives.</p> <p>Attend and actively participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, faculty meetings, and other professional obligations as assigned.</p> <p>Maintain accurate records of student progress, including academic, behavioral, and therapeutic goals, and prepare required reports and documentation.</p> <p>Engage in ongoing professional development, including maintaining current licensure and required Safety-Care certification, and fulfilling the requirements of an Individual Professional Development Plan approved by the principal.</p> <p>Fulfills the teaching role in alignment with The Principles of Effective Teaching (Regulatory Authority: 603 CMR 35.00: M.G.L. c.69, §1B; c.71, §38).</p> <p>Qualifications: Valid Massachusetts DESE Severe Disabilities (All Levels) License required.</p> <p>Experience in therapeutic or substantially separate classroom settings preferred.</p> <p>Safety-Care certification (or willingness to obtain upon hiring) required, including training in physical management techniques.</p> <p>Demonstrated ability to lead a team and support students with emotional and behavioral challenges.</p> <p>Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.</p>
