<p>Join the Greater Austin YMCA as a full-time Aquatics Coordinator. The pay range for this role is $17-$21 per hour. In this position, you will support the Aquatics Director by leading by example and collaborating across the department, while overseeing daily operations and ensuring all aquatics programs run safely and efficiently.</p> <p>This role requires flexible availability and involves coordinating activities, maintaining high standards for safety and member experience, and contributing to the overall success of the aquatics department. It's ideal for a detail-oriented, dependable professional committed to delivering quality aquatic programming.</p> <p>How You Will Make an Impact</p> <p>The member relations aspect of this position requires that relationship building always be a top priority, attending to the needs and requests of members, program participants, volunteers, staff, and all people associated with the YMCA in a courteous and friendly manner.</p> <ul> <li>Assist in providing high-quality member experience in programs and operations. </li><li>Support in communication towards members for programs and operations. </li><li>Assist in addressing complaints and resolving problems. </li><li>Aid in the marketing and distribution of program/operations information. </li><li>Works with the Aquatics Director to assist in conducting performance appraisals, rewards, and discipline. </li><li>Monitor program registration, prepare the necessary paperwork, and return phone calls and e-mails as needed. </li><li>Oversee program implementation and quality. </li><li>Update pool availability in Motion Vibe for pool space needed for lessons. </li><li>Compile program reports and statistics. </li><li>Assist in processing employment paperwork. </li><li>Assist with lifeguard/swim instructor scheduling, help secure substitutes, assist with and conduct staff orientations, and assist with staff communications. </li><li>Monitors and updates all required staff certifications. </li><li>Assist with pool maintenance, determined by Aquatics Director. </li><li>Update pool availability in Motion Vibe for pool space needed for lessons. </li><li>Ensure swim lesson instructors follow the curriculum and use swim lesson skill progress trackers. </li><li>Ensure swim lesson instructors provide progress trackers, report cards, and certificates to participants. </li><li>Evaluate the program and Instructors on a quarterly basis. </li><li>Lead monthly in-services for swim Instructors. </li><li>Lead and manage swimming programs with the help of Lead Staff. </li><li>Attend and assist with the planning and execution of required meetings, in-services and/or training. </li><li>Assist with ongoing supervision and training of aquatics staff. </li><li>Train, develop, and support swim lesson instructors. </li><li>Monitor and update all required staff certifications, keeping them on file in the Aquatics Office </li><li>Handle complaints and employ conflict resolution techniques to resolve any issues </li><li>Audit staff to ensure the continued quality of the swim lesson program. </li><li>Ensure all swim lesson Instructors get YSLI V6 certified within 3 months of employment. </li><li>In partnership with the Aquatics Director, you'll help ensure programs meet the minimum number of participants. </li><li>Complete other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>What You Bring to the Y</p> <ul> <li>Relevant experience, certifications, and practical skills in aquatic programming and management. </li><li>Two to three years of professional experience, with a focus on aquatics. </li><li>Previous experience in supervising and leading teams is a plus. </li><li>Current BLS (CPR-PRO), First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, Lifeguard, and/or Swim Instructor certifications. </li><li>YLGI, YSLIT certifications preferred </li><li>You are an expert at developing and delivering multi-mode communications with a wide variety of types of audiences that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different constituents. </li><li>You are an expert at planning your day and not letting distractions come in between meeting your goals. </li><li>You know how to maneuver comfortably through complex policy, process, and people-related organizational dynamics. </li><li>You can have an impact on the behavior, attitudes, and choices of others. You are a force for change who is open to new insights, accepts challenges, and leads with positive energy. </li><li>You build close and good-natured relationships with people from all walks of life. </li><li>You foster a culture of inclusion and belonging. You leverage people's differences as strengths. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <p>This role requires the ability to be active and on your feet for extended periods, with frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching. You should be able to lift and carry equipment and supplies as needed, typically up to 25-50 pounds, and feel comfortable working in and around water. The position also requires the ability to respond quickly and safely in emergency situations, ensuring the well-being of all participants in aquatics programs.
