<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The tutor is directly accountable to the Associate Director of Tutoring & Academic Intervention Services for the following duties and responsibilities. The individual filling this position is expected to play a positive role in helping the College change as necessary to effectively carry out its mission. This position may have duties that are either on campus or virtual or both and will require cooperation with other tutors, faculty, and staff to promote student success.</p> <p>Mathematics subject areas: College Algebra, Statistics, Calculus I-III, Differential Equations.</p> <ul> <li>Working with students both one-on-one and in small groups, either remotely or in-person. </li><li>Independently guiding students through the process of solving math problems successfully. </li><li>Navigating and maintaining a familiarity with subject matter and test-preparation materials, such as worksheets, test-prep books, textbooks, and formula sheets. </li><li>Collaborating on the development of math workshops and resources that address common mistakes made by students. </li><li>Assisting students with subject area content and advanced academic skills. </li><li>Helping to support student testing and accommodation needs upon request. </li><li>Playing a positive role in student engagement and retention initiatives. </li><li>Reporting problems or concerns as they arise to the coordinator on site and/or the Associate Director. </li><li>Maintaining a courteous and professional attitude at all times. </li><li>Keeping timely and accurate records of all tutoring sessions. </li><li>Utilizing technology for tutoring sessions and student outreach. </li><li>Helping with light housekeeping duties, such as wiping down whiteboards and tables, etc. </li><li>Completing the College's annual mandatory compliance training, as required, and all other training related to the job of tutoring and providing academic assistance. </li><li>Assisting with other assigned duties as requested. </li><li>Demonstrating accountability on the job by turning in timesheets, reports, and other materials on time. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent required. </li><li>Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. </li><li>Demonstrated excellence in subject area. </li><li>Candidate must have earned "B" or higher in course(s) related to tutoring responsibilities. </li><li>Candidate must have passed Calculus II. </li><li>Recommendation from faculty or chair of departments of relevant courses. </li><li>Excellent time management skills. </li><li>Preferred prior tutoring and/or teaching experience with high school and college students. </li><li>Preferred ability to tutor in other subjects in addition to mathematics. </li><li>Willingness to travel to the Niceville Campus for training and events or as needed. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Classification: Part-Time</p> <p>Grant Funded: N</p> <p>Rate of Pay: $15.00 per hour</p> <p>Hours: Up to 29 hours per week</p> <p>Location: South Walton Campus</p> <p>FLSA Status: Non-Exempt</p> <p>Application Deadline: Open until filled.
