<p>The Department of Marketing at Western Michigan University's Haworth College of Business is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The main responsibilities of this role center on Supply Chain Management, with extra focus on International Business. The chosen candidate will be expected to significantly contribute to the WMU-SCM program through teaching, research, and service, while also supporting the department's strategic efforts to incorporate emerging technologies into supply chain education and practice.</p> <p>This position is suited for a scholar-educator who demonstrates a commitment to excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, develops an active research agenda, and engages proactively with industry partners and professional organizations.</p> <p>Major Duties</p> <ul> <li>Deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in supply chain management, business information systems, ERP systems, continuous improvement, and global business topics. </li><li>Teach in various formats, including traditional classrooms, large auditorium sessions (up to 350 students), hybrid, and online modes. </li><li>Create a curriculum that integrates current technologies and industry standards into supply chain management training. </li><li>Mentor students in academic, career, and professional growth. </li><li>Advise and support students in participating in supply chain and case competitions, as well as in student organizations. </li><li>Achieve high teaching evaluations and showcase pedagogical excellence. </li><li>Establish and maintain an independent research program in supply chain management, with a focus on areas such as emerging technologies, artificial intelligence applications, and ERP systems. </li><li>Publish research in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at reputable conferences in supply chain management, operations management, and related fields. </li><li>Seek external funding through grants, industry partnerships, or collaborative research initiatives. </li><li>Support the WMU Center for Supply Chain Management's academic goals through applied research and industry engagement. </li><li>Collaborate on interdisciplinary research projects with colleagues from across the university. </li><li>Participate in departmental, college, and university governance, including serving on committees and developing programs. </li><li>Participate in professional associations focused on supply chain management, operations management, and technology integration. </li><li>Support departmental accreditation, program evaluation, and strategic planning efforts. </li><li>Develop and maintain relationships with industry partners to enhance student experiential learning. </li><li>Support recruitment, retention, and diversity efforts within the department and college. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Earned doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D., DBA) from an accredited institution in supply chain management, operations management, information systems, organizational leadership, business analytics, education with a documented business or organizational change focus, or a closely related field, completed by August 1, 2026. </li><li>Demonstrated research potential through publications, conference presentations, or dissertation work in supply chain management, technology integration, organizational change, or related areas. </li><li>Evidence of effective teaching at the university level, including experience in business information systems, supply chain, operations, global business, or technology-focused courses, or similar contexts. </li><li>Commitment to innovative teaching methods and ability to educate a diverse group of students, including international students and non-traditional learners. </li><li>Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with faculty, students, and industry partners. </li><li>Proven success in mentoring students through advising, research supervision, co-curricular activities, or student success initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Established publication record in peer-reviewed journals covering artificial intelligence in supply chain management, ERP systems, technology adoption, socio-technical systems, or organizational and educational change related to supply chains and information systems. </li><li>Experience teaching large-format courses (100+ students) with active learning strategies and educational technology. </li><li>Experience in curriculum development, including course design, assessment, and integration of industry tools and software. </li><li>Active involvement in professional organizations such as APICS, ISM, CSCMP, DSI, or similar. </li><li>International education experience and/or commitment to global perspectives in business and organizational education. </li><li>Industry experience or partnerships that support experiential learning, including internships, case studies, guest speakers, or applied projects. </li><li>Experience in grant writing or successful acquisition of external research or program funding. </li><li>Familiarity with AACSB accreditation standards and assessment practices. </li><li>Experience with emerging technologies such as AI/machine learning, blockchain, IoT, or advanced analytics in supply chain contexts. </li></ul> <p>Special Instructions to
