SUMMARY OF POSITION'S PURPOSE:</p> <p>Assist students with special needs by providing professional development, job-embedded training, assessments, consultations and technical assistance to teachers, family and other school personnel.</p> <p>III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION Bachelor's Degree. Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate. Certification in one or more areas of special education. Three years of successful school experience. Additional criteria as the Board may require.</p> <p>IV. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Observes and assesses students for concerns as expressed by the student's teacher, parent and school staff. </li><li>Gathers information and data pertinent to the student's area of concern. </li><li>Complete all assessment/consultation reports accurately and within timelines as required by local, state and federal policies. </li><li>Interpret and present assessments/consultations and observational results and outcomes in an accurate, clear, and concise manner to school personnel and parents. </li><li>Collaborates with teachers to develop plans and participates in conferences with school staff and parents. </li><li>Attends and actively participates in meetings/staffing's with appropriate school and family team members. </li><li>Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships. </li><li>Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. </li><li>Provides intervention and/or equipment to the student and provides consultation and supervision for educational personnel implementing the interventions/equipment according to the student's educational plan. </li><li>Provides individualized assistance and/or in-service training to educational personnel in regards to specific educational and behavioral strategies/interventions. </li><li>Provides professional, courteous and prompt service to all person including administrators, students, parents, co-workers, etc. </li><li>Maintains required documentation and records. </li><li>Participates in professional growth and development activities relevant to area of expertise in the school system and in required job-related meetings and activities. </li><li>Complies with all school, parish, state and federal policies and regulations within given profession. </li><li>Adheres to professional standards of conduct and code of professional ethics. </li><li>Performs additional duties/services assigned by administration. </li></ul> <p>Teachers shall be expected to perform the following duties, along with the completion of corresponding documents, forms, and reports:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Instructional Components</p> </li><li> <p>Fulfill duties traditionally expected of those in supervisory positions</p> </li><li> <p>Lesson Plans</p> </li><li> <p>Instruction</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with colleagues and departments</p> </li><li> <p>Grade papers</p> </li><li> <p>Take and record attendance</p> </li><li> <p>Enter/Average grades</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain positive and timely interaction with parents relative to the performance or conduct of students assigned to the teacher</p> </li><li> <p>Supervision</p> </li><li> <p>Supervision of students when students are on or off campus at a school related/sponsored event</p> </li><li> <p>Supervision of students prior to school and/or drop-off, when assigned</p> </li><li> <p>Supervision of students in the classroom</p> </li><li> <p>Supervision of students between classes, during recess/intermission, during lunch, assemblies</p> </li><li> <p>Supervision of students after school and/or pick-up, when assigned</p> </li><li> <p>Non-instructional Components</p> </li><li> <p>Attend meetings generally associated with the instructions of students</p> </li><li> <p>Attend faculty, staff, and department meetings</p> </li><li> <p>Attend training sessions</p> </li><li> <p>Attend IEP meetings</p> </li><li> <p>Attend parent-teacher conferences</p> </li><li> <p>Attend back-to-school and open-house events</p> </li><li> <p>Attend graduation</p> </li><li> <p>Attend PGP, PIP, Evaluation, Observation, IAP, and student discipline meetings/hearings</p> </li><li> <p>Attend school board/committee meetings, upon request</p> </li><li> <p>Extracurricular Activities</p> </li><li> <p>Attend/work concessions/gates of no more than 15 athletic events per school year as requested by the principal or designee</p> </li><li> <p>Attend all meetings and functions of those activities, clubs, or groups of which the employee is a sponsor</p> </li></ul> <p>NOTE: This job description is a summary of the primary duties and responsibilities of the position.
