<p>Position:</p> <p>Clerk (40 Hours per Week, 12 Months)</p> <p>English Language Learners & History/Social Studies Departments</p> <p>Overview of Cambridge Public Schools:</p> <p>The Cambridge Public Schools (CPS), in partnership with our families and community, provides all students with rigorous, joyful, and culturally responsive learning as well as the social, emotional, and academic supports each student needs to achieve their goals and post-secondary success as engaged community members. CPS students and staff, as members of a learning organization engaged in continuous improvement, will demonstrate a growth mindset and embrace risk taking and innovation.</p> <p>About 7,000 students choose CPS each year, and our diverse student enrollment continues to rise. Over 30% of CPS students speak a language other than English at home, and over 70 languages are spoken by our families. Among the most common are Spanish, Haitian Creole, Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, and Chinese. Our schools proudly embrace this diversity.</p> <p>The Role:</p> <p>The Cambridge Public Schools seeks a talented and energetic clerk to support the English Learner (EL) and History Departments. This clerk will support administrators, Teachers in Charge, instructional coaches, and teachers in providing world-class education to all students in the Cambridge Public Schools. They will be responsible for data entry and communications, as well as providing budget and curriculum support. This full-time position will be split 0.75 FTE for the EL Department and 0.25 FTE for the History Department. The clerk will report to the Directors for both departments.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Organize department, curricular, and other district-wide meetings </li><li>Manage payment vouchers and purchase orders for general funds and grant budgets </li><li>Respond to telephone and e-mail communications in a professional and timely manner </li><li>Maintain positive working relationships with other departments, administrative staff and educators at all schools </li><li>Assist Director in organizing and maintaining the budget for after school and summer school programs for the Department of Multilingual Learner Education </li><li>Understand and oversee processes of fiscal and operational departments including purchasing, accounts payable, payroll and Human Resources </li><li>Collate and distribute curriculum documents to teachers </li><li>Manage procurement processes for department materials </li><li>Maintain, inventory, and organize department resources </li><li>Proofread and edit documents for Coordinators </li><li>Communicate with English Learner families and provide interpretations if needed </li><li>Other duties as assigned by Coordinators </li></ul> <p>Your Skill Set:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred </li><li>At least 1-2 years experience in an office environment, preferably in an educational setting, with customer service and clerical responsibilities </li><li>Perform work accurately and independently; meet stated deadlines </li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills </li><li>A passion for education </li><li>Proficiency in Google Suite applications (gmail, calendar, docs, slides, forms, and sheets) </li><li>Familiarity with or willingness to learn to access data in educational systems such as Aspen, SchoolCity, and TalentEd </li><li>Ability to organize, manage, and complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment </li><li>Attention to detail and problem solving skills </li><li>Self-motivated </li><li>Culturally responsive and attentive the needs of diverse families and educators </li><li>Prefer proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Haitian Creole, Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Bengali, Spanish, Portuguese, or Hebrew </li></ul> <p>How to Join Our Team:</p> <p>Please upload a resume and thoughtful cover letter, outlining how your skills, experience, and commitment to equity in education meet the qualifications of the position as well as stating how you heard about this opportunity.</p> <p>At the Cambridge Public Schools, we are committed to cultivating an environment where diverse perspectives and backgrounds are embraced, acknowledging that a team reflecting diversity of race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, age, gender, marital/domestic partner status, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability status, and veteran status allows us to serve our communities better.
