<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Instructional Coach</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY: The instructional coach will be responsible for coaching and supporting the educational staff at Whitney Hall School in specialized instruction and case management. The position will work closely with classroom teachers to ensure students' IEP goals and objectives are being met. The position will be in classrooms at least 50% of the time, observing instruction, sharing and modeling instructional strategies, and providing supportive feedback. The instructional coach will work with the classroom staff to ensure the curriculum is modified or supplemented to meet students' needs as outlined in the IEP, and that students receive the necessary supplementary aids and services to access and progress in the curriculum. This position will also plan and facilitate after school grade-level meetings and staff development. This position will work as a TEAM mentor or if needed become trained as a TEAM mentor. This position works as a team member with the management of The Children's Center of Hamden. This position reports to and collaborates with school school-level administrators and the VP of Education. This individual should be aware of and sensitive to the cultural diversity of the student population. This employee is expected to perform other assigned duties.</p> <p>POSITION STATUS: Exempt</p> <p>TECHNOLOGIES: Microsoft Office Suite</p> <p>Accountable and responsible for the following results:</p> <ul> <li>Provide support to new teachers as a TEAM mentor </li><li>Serve as a resource and mentor for Whitney Hall Staff </li><li>Assist teachers with case management responsibilities </li><li>Collaborate with teachers to ensure proper IEP implementation </li><li>Assist with curriculum development and implementation </li><li>Assist with the administration of all required assessments </li><li>Assess the academic strengths and weaknesses of students </li><li>Coach teachers on their role and responsibilities in PPT Meetings </li><li>Provide oversight and support for academic program planning for students </li><li>Help prepare written IEPs in keeping with the recommendations of the PPT </li><li>Collaborate with teachers on lesson plan design and differentiated instruction </li><li>Collaborate with teachers on the planning and implementation of UDL and PBIS </li><li>Collaborate with school districts to ensure students meet graduation requirements </li><li>Provide guidance for IEP development, implementation, and evaluation strategies for teachers </li><li>Provide input to school administration regarding teaching, learning, curriculum, and assessment </li><li>Assist teachers in the preparation of quarterly benchmark/progress reports, and student report cards </li><li>Collaborate with school administration to provide a responsive and accountable instructional environment </li><li>Participates in PPT's, Treatment Teams, and Case Conferences for any student, at the school administrator's request </li><li>Coach in classrooms at least 50% of the time, observing and modeling instruction and providing supportive feedback </li><li>Completes thorough review and provide feedback and guidance to teachers with all information shared with guardians and school districts. Ex: report cards, progress notes, and at PPTs </li><li>Completes a thorough review of all PPT documents, and data being presented at PPT, and before being sent to LEAs and other stakeholders </li><li>Ensures accurate baseline and continual ongoing benchmark assessments are taken administered to monitor student progress </li><li>Ensures that programming in Whitney Hall School reflects sensitivity and awareness regarding cultural diversity as it relates to the client population. </li><li>Maintains all required agency mandatory training </li><li>Participates in staff and departmental meetings, in-service training programs, and attends meetings as required, workshops, and conferences. Effectively utilizes supervision. </li><li>Maintains appropriate personal boundaries with young people and families served at The Children's Center of Hamden. </li><li>Adheres to The Children's Center of Hamden's Boundary Code of Ethics. </li><li>Is aware of the Policy and Procedure Manuals and can access information as needed. </li><li>Demonstrates sensitivity and awareness regarding cultural diversity as it relates to the client population. </li><li>Maintains care, welfare, safety, and security of the children by reporting conditions which are or could be considered safety hazards. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must possess administrative and managerial abilities, and know how to plan, implement, and actualize education goals.</p> <p>LICENSURE /CERTIFICATIONS In accordance with Connecticut State Board of Education requirements.</p>
