<p>The Division of Allied Health Sciences is seeking adjunct instructors lectures and labs who can teach in some or all of the following disciplines:</p> <ul> <li>Microbiology </li><li>Biology </li><li>Anatomy & Physiology </li><li>Human Body </li><li>General Chemistry </li><li>General Physical Science </li></ul> <p>As an adjunct professor, you work with students at higher education facilities to provide them with the knowledge and training they need to be successful in their chosen careers. Your ability to work on a course-by-course basis allows you to decide when you want to work and when you don't.  </p> <p> </p> <p>Blue Ridge Community and Technical College believes our faculty are not just instructors, but also coaches and mentors. We believe in a robust instructor-student relationship and building a community in the classroom.Typical duties of our adjunct instructors may include but aren't limited to:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Engage with students to help them learn in both synchronous and asynchronous environments</p> </li><li> <p>Establish high, but achievable standards and ensure students understand how they will be evaluated</p> </li><li> <p>Create class syllabi to include instructor-specific contact information and course policies and ensure the syllabus meets the Allied Health Department and BRCTC standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Plan and create lectures in class/remote discussions and assignments</p> </li><li> <p>Grade assigned papers, quizzes, and exams within one week of due dates. </p> </li><li> <p>Assess students' progress based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.</p> </li><li> <p>Report student learning outcomes and analyze student data</p> </li><li> <p>Utilize Blackboard (the online learning platform) to enrich the student learning experience for the course's online component utilizing Quality Matters standards.  </p> </li><li> <p>Ensure students receive quality feedback promptly to support their academic success. Respond to student emails and phone calls within one business day.  Provide guidance and support to students before and after class, during office hours, and via Zoom.  </p> </li><li> <p>Utilize the Acuity scheduling tool to arrange appointments. </p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with colleagues on course curriculum</p> </li><li> <p>Advise students on what courses to register for and how to apply to the nursing program at BRCTC</p> </li><li> <p>Stay updated on innovations and changes within their course field and within the field of education</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in professional development </p> </li><li> <p>Attend BRCTC events including but not limited to orientations, registration events, graduations, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned to meet the Mission, drive the Vision, and abide by the Core Values of BRCTC.</p> </li></ul> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in the discipline or Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the discipline </li></ul> <p> </p> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>Teaching experience preferred </li><li>Experience using technology to teach, Blackboard experience a plus </li></ul> <p> </p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required </p> <ul> <li>Ability to teach utilizing real-world experience </li><li>Proficiency in oral and written presentation skills, planning, and organizing course objectives.  </li><li>Ability to demonstrate the use of relevant academic technology and learning management systems to facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and effective communication </li><li>Demonstrated passion for their academic field and education in general </li><li>Commitment to student engagement, including maintaining consistent communication and virtual support mechanisms to ensure student success.  </li></ul> <p> </p> <p>Licensure and Certification</p> <ul> <li>Certification in, or willingness to become certified in Quality Matters online teaching certification </li></ul> <p>This is a continuous job posting to establish a qualified pool of adjuncts on an as needed basis semester to semester. </p> <p>Adjunct pay dependent on degree level.</p> <p>Blue Ridge Community and Technical College is an equal opportunity institution and does not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, sex, pregnancy, age, disability, or religion in admission, employment, or educational programs and activities; nor does it discriminate based on genetic information in employment or employee health benefits.
