Other terms as set by Board of Education.</p> <p>PRIMARY FUNCTION:</p> <p>To provide effective services/intervention/training/consultation; to help students and their families succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. To serve as a liaison to families to connect services and programs through NLPS programs or programs throughout the community.</p> <p>TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>This description of the position of School Based Wellness Interventionist is for identification and administrative purposes only. It is not intended to be a complete statement of all duties, which may be assigned or adjusted by the Superintendent of Schools according to varying needs.</p> <ul> <li>Provide behavioral supports/direct and indirect services to students who experience mental health issues/concerns. </li><li>Recognize and provide interventions/recommendations for students who have experienced trauma that impairs learning and or socialization. </li><li>Provide consultation and support to both school staff and parent/guardians, to improve academic and social emotional - behavioral- functioning. </li><li>Participate as part of special education, 504, problem solving teams, attendance teams, SRBI teams, PBIS teams, and Crisis/Response/Safety team. </li><li>Utilize, support, and consult on Restorative Practices, Mindfulness, and Trauma informed practices. </li><li>Coordinate and assist with building level SRBI process/individual plans and interventions/recommendations. </li><li>Collaborate to develop/integrate behavioral supports and mental health services with academic and learning goals for students. </li><li>Work collaboratively with other school personnel to create and maintain a multi-tiered continuum of services (academic/behavior/Social Emotional). </li><li>Engage in effective communication/training to plan, implement, and evaluate the academic and mental health services of the district. </li><li>Act as a home/school liaison and works closely with the Community In Action (CIA) Parent Organization. </li><li>Coordinate the effective programming and integration of services such as Family Resource Programs, School-Based Health, School Nurse, and the Support Services Department to assist families/students in finding the resources/services needed beyond the school. </li><li>Connect with community health and wellness providers to ensure wrap - around services for families in need. </li><li>Design and implement interventions/recommendations/coordinated services and outreach in a culturally responsive manner. </li><li>Create and maintain safe, supportive, fair, and effective learning environments and enhance family-school collaboration for all students. </li><li>Collect and aggregate appropriate data to improve academic, socio-emotional, behavioral and attendance outcomes. </li><li>Maintain records and documentation of services. </li><li>Perform such other duties as assigned by the principal or designee. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Connecticut certification as a: School Counselor (068) or School Social Worker (071) or School Psychologist (070); or </li><li>Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist; or </li><li>Licensed Social Worker; or </li><li>Equivalent measurable job-related experience </li><li>Experience with youth services, and/or coursework in child psychology, adolescent psychology, and/or counseling </li><li>Demonstrated ability in relating to, advising, and mentoring students at risk </li><li>Effective communication skills </li><li>Word processing skills and other basic computer skills </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree or Higher </li><li>Experience in Trauma, Restorative Practices, Mindfulness, PBIS, SRBI, Responsive Classrooms, Attendance/Truancy, Parent /Community Engagement </li><li>Bilingual, English, and Spanish </li></ul> <p>PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: Director of Culture and Climate/District Wellness Manager/Building Administrator/Designee</p> <p>SALARY: $57,000 ($41.10/hour)</p> <p>Date: December 3, 2021</p> <p>New London Public Schools</p> <p>New London, Connecticut</p> <p>New London Public School District is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
