<p>Job Description</p> <p>Description</p> <p>SAIC has an opening for an organized and motivated Mechanical Engineer whom is looking for an opportunity to grow with our company as we continue to expand our Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Propulsion Test Facility (NUWC - PTF) support team in Newport, RI. Work will be performed on site at NUWC - PTF. The individual will be part of a collaborative team of engineers and support technicians working to bring projects from the early concept and design phase all the way through fabrication, system integration, and acceptance testing.</p> <p>Job Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Provides direct support to the Test Director. </li><li>Provides support for facility integration and testing operations. </li><li>Responsible for leading presentation and creating the necessary slide packages associated with Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs). </li><li>Exemplifies leadership throughout the entire testing process from customer concept to post-test analysis; projects will broadly include the design and fabrication of components and interfaces for electrical and mechanical systems for both test items and facility infrastructure. </li><li>Supports the development of Technical Data Packages (TDPs), Test Plans, Integration Plans, Instrumentation Plans, Test Reports and Procedures. </li><li>Interfaces with customer to define key test requirements. </li><li>Establishes all supporting test documentation. </li><li>Performs test for unit builds. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and five (5) or more years of experience; Master's in Mechanical Engineering and three (3) or more years of experience. </li><li>Must be able to obtain clearance up to the level of SECRET; Active SECRET (or above) clearance is preferred. </li><li>Proficiency in CAD software for the development of 3D models and 2D drawings, preferably SolidWorks. </li><li>Experience working with and altering templates for 2D drawing creation. </li><li>Experience developing bills of material (BOMs) for complex assemblies to incorporate on 2D drawings and to use as a costing and tracking tool during projects. </li><li>Experience creating fabrication drawings, including the use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). </li><li>Knowledge of best design practices to prevent issues during the fabrication phase of the project. </li><li>Must be highly motivated and have excellent problem solving skills. </li><li>Must demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently with changing deadlines and priorities. </li><li>Must be able to work in a customer facing team environment while completing tasks in an unsupervised and self-directed fashion. </li><li>Proficiency in technical writing for all forms of test documentation. </li><li>Extensive knowledge and understanding of mechanical and electrical systems is preferred. </li><li>Experience with data acquisition systems is preferred. </li></ul> <p>SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.</p> <p>Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters.
