<p>The ED Nurse Educator is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and</p> <p>evaluation of educational programs and professional development initiatives for nursing staff</p> <p>across the health system's emergency departments. This role ensures clinical competency, fosters</p> <p>evidence-based practice, and supports onboarding, continuing education, and quality</p> <p>improvement efforts in alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.</p> <p>Education</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree, master's degree preferred</p> <p>Experience</p> <p>Four years of related experience. Requires broad knowledge of complex systems and procedures.</p> <p>Licenses & Certifications</p> <ul> <li>ACLS Instructor </li><li>Emergency Department Registered Nurse </li><li>Georgia Registered Nurse License or Multistate Nursing License </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Ability to adjust the teaching plan to accommodate the visual learners, the auditory learners, the reading writing-preference learners, as well as the kinaesthetic learner. </li><li>Clinical experience to include care and management of the following patient populations: (A) Intra Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), (B) Hemodynamic monitoring, (c) CRRT, (D) 12 lead EKG interpretation, (E) Rhythm interpretation, (F) Management of a ventilator patient, and (G) Management of patient receiving PCI. </li><li>Documentation of experience in the provision of education for bedside clinicians. (Application requirement of 2 letters of reference related to the applicant's ability to coordinate and provide education for the critical care nurse). </li></ul> <p>Area of Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Assessment of unit specific educational needs, with implementation of varied in-services based on assessment findings. A. Goal of monthly educational offerings to include an advanced critical care course annually. B. Provision of CEU's or Certs with educational offerings. C. Inclusion of current research and evidenced based practice as a component of the curriculum. D. Maintenance of the staff's education records. E. Collaborates with nurse manager to develop a level of excellence in the critical care staff. F. Maintains and updates professional skills, maintains current clinical certification, and shares knowledge with staff by developing formal in-services as well as point of care skill development. </li><li>Demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills in medication and I.V. drug administration. Effectively operates and understands the use of specialized equipment and the clinical indications for use. Capable of trouble shooting equipment problems or obtaining assistance for when indicated. </li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of the nursing process in patient assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and documentation. Demonstrates natural leadership ability and displays a high degree of tact and diplomacy. </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to educate bedside clinicians regarding assessment, critical thinking, and intervention to assist them in the coordination of total patient care to management biophysical and psychosocial needs of the patient in a family oriented environment. </li><li>Plans, develops, and coordinates the didactic orientation program for the newly hired Critical Care employees. Contacts may be outside of the organization also.</p> <p>Effect Of Error</p> <p>Probable errors may be serious and involve losses such as improper costs, overpayment, waste of material, damage to equipment, and delay in processing work.
