<p>Class Definition</p> <p>This position within the Rhode Island Supreme Court's Office of Disciplinary Counsel assists the Chief Disciplinary Counsel by reviewing, investigating and prosecuting complaints filed against attorneys practicing in Rhode Island. Duties include, but are not limited to: investigating allegations of attorney misconduct; appearing before the Supreme Court Disciplinary Board to recommend the disposition of complaints; prosecuting all attorney disciplinary proceedings before the Board; appearing before the Supreme Court on disciplinary matters requiring the Court's attention; carrying out all other duties of Disciplinary Counsel as set forth in Article III, Rule 5 of the Rhode Island Supreme Court Rules; and performing all other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Disciplinary Counsel or the Administrative Office of State Courts.</p> <p>Required Qualifications for Appointment</p> <p>Interested candidates must have graduated from an ABA accredited law school and be a member of the Rhode Island Bar in good standing with a minimum of 7 years of experience as an attorney. Working knowledge of the Rhode Island Supreme Court Rules and procedure is required. Applicants should also have significant recent litigation and trial experience, experience in conducting civil and/or criminal investigations, and proficiency with legal research and writing.</p> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED NOT APPLY</p> <p>For information regarding the benefits available to State of Rhode Island employees, please visit the Office of Employee Benefits' website at http://www.employeebenefits.ri.gov/.</p> <p>Also, be advised that a new provision in RI General Law 35-6-1 was enacted requiring direct deposit for all employees. Accordingly, any employee hired after this date will be required to participate in the direct deposit system.
