<p>Position Summary</p> <p>Olivet Nazarene University's School of Nursing seeks to prepare students to excel in nursing with competence and excellence from a Christian perspective. The School of Nursing is seeking a clinical adjunct faculty member to provide clinical instruction in the undergraduate nursing program. Clinical shifts could be held from 8-12 hours at a time. Clinical groups could include 6-12 students, depending on the course and clinical facility. A mandatory orientation is held at the beginning of Fall and Spring semesters.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li> <p>Evaluate student skill demonstrations at the beginning of, and possibly throughout, the semester.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise students in clinical as they holistically take on full care for patients during their shift.Assist, to an appropriate extent based on student level in the program, with report/data gathering, assessments, medication/IV administration, skills, charting, communication, organization, critical thinking, and all related nursing roles and competencies.</p> </li><li> <p>Grade student clinical assignments such as journals and care plans.</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluate each student each day on department forms, including the Daily Clinical Evaluation Tooland Skills card.</p> </li><li> <p>Meet with students at the end of their rotation to give them a final evaluation.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain ongoing communication with students, didactic professor(s), and level coordinator(s).</p> </li></ol> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required</p> <ol> <li> <p>A lifestyle in agreement with theONU Statement of Mission, Faith, and Lifestyle Covenant.</p> </li><li> <p>At least five years of experience in the nursing field.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong work ethic.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent interpersonal communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent organizational skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Microsoft Office suite experience and proficiency.</p> </li></ol> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>EDUCATION</p> <p>A Master's degree in Nursing is required; a doctorate in nursing or related field is preferred.Current health requirements include, but are not limited to, CPR certification, TB skin test, drug screen, MMR, Varicella, flu vaccine. PALS certification preferred for pediatric and critical care clinical assignments.</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>Healthcare facilities in Kankakee County and surrounding areas. Pediatric rotations could be in Joliet or Chicago. Travel required to clinical sites. Primary interaction with didactic professor and level coordinator.
