<p>SUMMARY</p> <p>Operate a variety of heavy equipment including, but not limited to, excavator/trackhoe, loader, backhoe, bulldozer, dump truck, tamper, and water truck.</p> <p>TYPICAL DAILY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Conduct routine inspections on equipment including moving parts, welds, and structural integrity prior to operating. Inform supervisor of all defects and malfunctions. </li><li>Perform minor adjustments as needed. Assist mechanic with major repairs. </li><li>Perform routine maintenance including lubricating, fueling, and cleaning equipment. </li><li>Monitor gauges and other indicators ensuring safe operation. </li><li>Grade, shape, and form work area. </li><li>Backfill, spread fill, stabilize stone, load trucks and dump buckets, transport dump buckets, and move equipment - including rigging and attaching equipment to bucket hook. </li><li>Adhere to all safety rules, guidelines, and codes. </li><li>Maintain records of time worked and materials used. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li><li>High school diploma or GED plus three (3) years of direct underground utilities experience or training required </li><li>Maintain a valid Driver's License </li><li>Knowledge of all heavy equipment operations including best practices in safe operation and maintenance </li><li>Ability to appropriately judge distances, slopes, and depths accurately </li><li>Ability to read engineer drawings, in some cases </li><li>Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondences, memos, and blueprints </li><li>Ability to write simple correspondences and complete logs </li><li>Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide </li><li>Must understand and be committed to jobsite, workplace, and heavy equipment safety standards and processes </li></ul>
