<p>Job Description:</p> <p>3rd Grade Lead Teacher - 2025-2026 School Year</p> <p>St. James Catholic School, Stratford, CT</p> <p>OVERVIEW</p> <p>St. James School in Stratford, Connecticut is opening a second 3rd grade classroom. We are hiring a 3rd Grade Teacher beginning in the 2025-26 school year. Candidates must have a love for working with elementary-aged children. The ideal candidate will also be passionate about elementary education. We are looking for educators who want to work in a supportive, caring, and positive school environment.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES (The below description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility)</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrates effective planning skills by preparing lessons designed to implement stated goals and objectives </li><li>Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning </li><li>Demonstrates competence in teaching by having current knowledge of curriculum and elementary subject matter </li><li>Effectively manage children using research-based strategies and approaches that foster growth </li><li>Connect and communicate effectively with children </li><li>Organize a classroom learning environment and materials </li><li>Continues to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops, professional development, reading professional educational publications, etc. </li><li>Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents. </li><li>Active member of a faith community and is open to the importance of personal faith journey; strives to model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university in Education or a related discipline </li><li>Valid State Teaching Certification in appropriate grade level and/or subject or in the process of attaining a Teaching Certificate </li><li>Loves working with children! </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Successful prior teaching in an elementary school </li><li>A Master's Degree in Elementary Education or a related field </li><li>Demonstrated experience teaching in a Catholic School </li></ul> <p>Please email a cover letter and resume to Chris Robertson, Principal, at chris.robertson@sjssct.org</p>
