<p>Full Time</p> <p>SCHOOL-ATHLETE CENTER-66251</p> <p>5300 KidsPeace Drive</p> <p>Direct Client/Patient Care</p> <p>Primarily M-F with additional hours & weekends as needed</p> <p>A Student Support Specialist provides behavioral and academic assistance for students within the school setting. The essential function of this position is to intervene with behavioral and academic support that is consistent with KidsPeace Model of Care and Safe Crisis Management. The position consists of circulating through classrooms to assist with assignments, providing crisis intervention to students, collecting data, forming therapeutic relationships and reinforcing on-task behavior. The Student Support Specialist will be able to implement crisis management techniques while supporting the educational needs of the students.</p> <p>Job Duties / Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Assist in classroom routines including daily expectations and education related support while ensuring a safe learning environment. </li><li>Assigned to float in residential houses before and after school hours within a daily shift. </li><li>Act as building floaters in halls, bathrooms and playgrounds to ensure a safe learning environment. </li><li>Fully perform restraints as necessary when ordered by a licensed professional using the current approved KidsPeace restraint methodology on youths who may weigh in excess of 250 pounds and who are verbally or physically threatening or otherwise presenting a threat to themselves or others. </li><li>Transport students to their place of residence and report behavior to the relevant person, as necessary. </li><li>Other tasks as assigned by the administrative team. </li><li>Provide crisis intervention to KidsPeace students, complete reporting and record keeping. </li><li>Attend to the behavioral and emotional needs of the student. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications (Education, Training and Experience)</p> <ul> <li>Experience with socially and emotionally challenged children or adolescents preferred. </li><li>Must possess basic personal computer knowledge and skills. </li><li>Must be at least 21 years of age or older. </li><li>Valid driver's license required. </li><li>Training given to obtain Safe Crisis Management and CPR/First Aid certified. </li><li>L.S.C.I certification needs be obtained within 6 months of hire date. </li><li>High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree in Mental Heath or related field preferred. </li></ul>
