<p>The Parking Management Department at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Worker II - Parking.</p> <p>About the Opportunity:</p> <p>This position will assist with the operation and maintenance of parking equipment and operate specialized computer maintenance equipment, program equipment as needed. Performs duties associated campus wide gate operations and ST pay stations which may include on call duties to get equipment functioning properly. duties include parking data base research and programming, electrical and mechanical repairs to equipment. Use personal computer to program this equipment when necessary in order to keep the short-term lots and gates operational. Troubleshoot and repair electronic dollar bill dispenser. Performs duties associated with fee collections of all parking pay stations, which involves handling large sums of cash. Engineer and facilitate work control such as inspect and maintains all garages and parking area equipment daily. Have knowledge of Parking equipment and software to insure seamless equipment failure across campus. Sweeps and cleans as necessary, makes minor repairs to lots, parking gates and pay station equipment as needed. Reports security violations and safety hazards to Assistant Director for additional corrective action. Operates a wide variety of maintenance equipment and machinery to keep lots and garages clean and functional. Ensure that the garages are free of debris caused by the changes in weather, to include maintaining sidewalks, steps, and entryways.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to work unsupervised and make decisions on demand. Erect signs according to Federal regulations. Reviews blueprints and specifications and provides input for maintenance activities. Must have knowledge of proper hazardous chemical disposal and storage. Removes snow from sidewalks, steps, roads and parking lots by means of trucks, tractors, power brooms and hand tools.</p> </li><li> <p>Receive and respond to Campus Police emergency calls in the event of a gate malfunctions either remotely or field service call. Assists Campus Police Officers as requested in the completion of enforcement activities to include towing and unlock vehicles. Aids motorists and citizens in distress by summoning help for inoperable vehicles and keys locked in vehicles.</p> </li><li> <p>Enforces parking rules and regulations, identifies and provides recommendations to reduce parking complaints, concerns, questions, and unique situation from staff, faculty, students, and the general public regarding policies and procedures of the Parking Management unit. Performs duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Pay Grade: 11</p> <p>Hours: 6am - 2 pm</p> <ul> <li>Must have a high school diploma or GED </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>A minimum of one (1) year experience in the following:</p> </li><li> <p>Electronic and equipment repair, experience in the maintenance and repair of mechanical, electronic and/or electrical systems/ equipment and accessories.</p> </li><li> <p>Cash handling</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to work unsupervised and make decisions on demand</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to assign job tasks professionally.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to operate a computer</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to program and repair computerized equipment, short term pay station and parking gates</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to generate documentation if required for cash handling internal audit.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to use math skills to layout and determine maximum utilization of parking areas.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to assign tasks required for maintenance operations.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance and services, including jump starts, vehicle unlocks, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to operate hand tools and parking machinery.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</p> </li><li> <p>Proven skill in interacting with the public. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working</p> </li><li> <p>Organization and time management skills required to manage multiple projects, reports, requests, and workload.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to learn and to apply policies, procedures and guidelines of the Parking operation</p> </li><li> <p>Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain a professional demeanor while interacting with customers either in person or over the telephone.</p> </li><li> <p>Physical capability to perform duties which include extended periods of walking, standing, and moving moderately heavy objects.</p> </li><li> <p>Must have knowledge of hazardous chemical regulation.</p> </li><li> <p>Use of computer to maintain parking equipment and pay stations.</p> </li><li> <p>Use of power equipment such as painting machines and sweeper used in maintenance activities.</p> </li><li> <p>In operations of parking equipment, precision of movements, awareness of environment and close visual attention is needed to impose safety for the employee and personnel around him/her.</p> </li><li> <p>Using computer, tools and equipment to maintain and repair electronic parking machinery</p> </li><li> <p>Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.</p> </li><li> <p>All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to perform physical duties related to parking lot maintenance </li><li>Must be able to lift 50 lbs. </li><li>Must be able to erect signs as needed </li></ul>
