Under the direction of the superintendent, s/he shall be the ultimate responsible authority for all personnel in the assigned building. In Zeeland Public Schools, given our unique "One Academic Program with Two Mascots" approach, it is crucial that our elementary principals work with their colleagues across the district to have similar programs in all buildings.</p> <p>In the conduct of administration within the school environment, the maintenance of effective communication, the promotion of staff and student participation, the advancement of staff and student morale are recognized as essential components of the principal's action. The principal will exercise a high degree of initiative and professional judgment in accomplishing ZPS objectives and in carrying out the policies adopted by the Board of Education.</p> <p>While leadership, service and coordination often occur as independent "building contained functions" of the principal, there are times when communication and cooperation with "non-building" personnel (such as transportation, food service, custodial/maintenance staff, etc.) are essential. The principal shall acquaint himself/herself with policies and procedures of the entire district.</p> <p>The Elementary Principal at Lincoln will also be the Director of Spanish Immersion and will play a key role in promoting Spanish Immersion districtwide. They will coordinate all aspects of Spanish Immersion districtwide to ensure the program is aligned through all grades.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and maintain a positive and productive school culture. </li><li>Provide curriculum leadership in your building and on district-level committees. </li><li>Monitor the implementation, supervision, and evaluation of the instructional program. </li><li>Engage in collaborative work of school and district improvement, accreditation, as well as State and Federal requirements. </li><li>Support and promote the implementation of Multi-Tiered System of Supports for both academics and behavior. </li><li>Lead school improvement efforts in the building. </li><li>Analyze data relating to school performance on local, state and national assessments. </li><li>Supervise the testing and special education screening process. </li><li>Monitor student and staff records for the building. </li><li>Plan and supervise the budget of the building. </li><li>Administer the ordering of supplies, textbooks and equipment within the approved budget. </li><li>Interview, recommend, assign, train, coach and dismiss staff members for an effective instructional program. </li><li>Supervise personnel under his/her jurisdiction. </li><li>Counsel with students, teachers and parents. </li><li>Enforce policies and procedures of the Board of Education. </li><li>Act as a liaison between the district and community and promote positive relations. </li><li>Attend staff development opportunities. </li><li>Create a building schedule for specialists and building handbook of rules. </li><li>Provide parent and staff communication for the building. </li><li>Maintain a building calendar. </li><li>Monitor the safety and maintenance of the facility. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Must meet State of Michigan requirements for administrative certification. </li><li>Must demonstrate leadership, team building skills and demonstrate the ability to work with students. </li><li>Communication skills are critical, with a wide variety of stakeholders, including staff, parents, students and district administrators. </li><li>Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and work independently. </li><li>Must be proficient in current technology for performance of duties and have the ability to analyze relevant information and data. </li><li>Knowledge of current best practice in educational methodology and state and federal regulations related to education is desired. </li><li>Must understand child growth and development, as well as trauma-informed practices and PBIS (positive behavior interventions and supports). </li><li>Must understand the school improvement process/plan. </li></ul> <p>Schedule:</p> <p>Full Year (43 weeks)</p> <p>Compensation:</p> <p>Salaried</p> <p>Full Family Insurance</p> <p>This is a replacement position.</p> <p>Once the posting deadline has been met, the supervisor will review applications and schedule interviews with the most qualified candidates.
