<p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>Unleash potential and joy in each participant and give them a healthy environment to blow off steam by helping them build memories, skills, values and lasting friendships and a safe environment. Interact with youth during this fun Friday night out while you facilitate programs filled with a variety of engaging activities to feed the mind, body and spirit of our 4th-6th graders. Activities are designed to develop positive character traits and build relationships based on the Y's core values.</p> <ul> <li>Schedule for this position is Friday from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM on a weekly or rotational basis </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Facilitate a variety of weekly program offerings from physical play to non-physical, structured and free play. </li><li>Collaborate with other Y staff and volunteers to create a positive and safe experience for everyone at the Y. </li><li>Monitor teens as they rotate through the building. </li><li>Provide positive redirection when our program participants exhibit negative or unsafe behaviors. </li><li>Provide feedback on programming ideas based on interactions with the Y Night team and program participants. </li><li>Cultivate relationships and demonstrate SMART service at all times with your team and our program participants. </li><li>Create a safe, fun, and enjoyable atmosphere for all participants and inspire respect between program participants and all facility users. </li><li>Act according to facility protocol to ensure safety of all staff and children which includes: </li><li>Adhere to policies related to boundaries with staff and children. </li><li>Attend required abuse risk management training. </li><li>Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations. </li><li>Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements. </li></ul> <p>SKILLS AND TRAINING</p> <ul> <li>Must be at least 18 years old. </li><li>Experience working with middle school aged children is desired. </li><li>Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and evenings required. </li><li>Excellent communication skills tailored to the appropriate audience. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> <p>For the most part, the work is done in a recreation environment where you will need to engage in active games, sports and other activities. Moving about freeing to assist coworkers in other work areas is important. The ability to lift at least 30 pounds to set up sports equipment will be necessary.</p> <p>COMPETENCIES</p> <ul> <li>Building Relationships: Connect people to the Y's cause by developing inclusive relationships and collaboration. Demonstrate ability to understand and emotions effectively in all situations. </li><li>Advancing Our Mission and Cause: As a cause driven leader you will support the Y, its members, participants, and staff by living the Y's values of CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT, and RESPONSIBILITY in all interactions and aspects of job performance and demonstrate the desire to serve others and fulfill community needs. </li><li>Engaging Community: Build bridges with others in the community to ensure the Y's work is community-focused and welcoming of all, providing community benefit. </li><li>Critical Thinking & Decision Making: Make informed decisions based on logic, data, and sound judgment. </li><li>Program Management: Help ensure program goals are met and intended impact occurs. </li><li>Developing Self & Others: Develop self and informally support others (e.g., staff, volunteers, members, program participants), to achieve their highest potential. </li><li>Inclusion: Value all people for their unique talents, and take an active role in promoting practices that support diversity, inclusion, and global work, as well as cultural competence. </li></ul> <p>This job description represents the major functions of the job but is not intended to be all inclusive.
