<p>Job Description: The Public Schools of Brookline seeks a Middle School Math Teacher for 8th Grade working at the Florida Ruffin Ridley K-8 School. This is a full-time position.</p> <p>Duties include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrating appropriate long and short term preparation for classroom instruction </li><li>Holding high expectations for all students and serving as a facilitator of student learning </li><li>Organizing and using a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each child, individually and in group settings </li><li>Assessing student progress, providing students and parents with specific feedback, and using the results to adjust instruction as needed </li><li>Providing opportunities for academic support and challenge </li><li>Taking responsibility for teaching the district learning expectations as outlined in the curriculum documents </li><li>Demonstrating an understanding of how knowledge in the subject areas is created, organized, and linked to other disciplines and life experiences </li><li>Keeping abreast of current developments in the field and continue to deepen understanding of the discipline(s) </li><li>Establishing and maintaining a functional, attractive, orderly, and safe classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and builds a sense of community </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge about Middle School philosophy and the developmental needs of adolescents </li><li>Strong Math content knowledge </li><li>Ability to differentiate instruction and assess learning using a variety of methods </li><li>A strong foundation in student-centered pedagogy </li><li>Bachelor's Degree </li><li>Mass.
