Priority will be given to educators with leadership experience in developing undergraduate curriculum aligned with the professional standards of the discipline, including the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC).</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Assist in the development of Pre-K & Pre-K-3 licensure pathways </li><li>Develop and teach undergraduate courses inEarly Childhood Education </li><li>Supervise early field experience, practicum, and student teaching </li><li>Establish and maintain positive working relationships with areapreschoolsand K-3 partners </li><li>Engage in new course development for delivery on campus and via distance methods </li><li>Conduct scholarly research and creative endeavors, leading to peer-reviewed publications </li><li>Participate in professional education associations in the candidate's discipline </li><li>Pursue professional development activities to stay current in the field </li><li>Actively participate in program development and assessment </li><li>Provide service to the profession and broader community </li><li>Advise undergraduate teacher candidates </li><li>Participate in faculty governance </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Earned doctorate in Education, with specialization inEarly Childhood Education from a regionally accredited and recognized institution. </li><li>Three(3) or more years of excellent teachingin preschools and K-3 classrooms. </li><li>Commitment to standards-based teacher preparation that is informed by current research and practice inPre-K-3instruction. </li><li>Scholarly publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals, referred presentations at professional conferences, or demonstrated potential to conduct research and publish scholarly works on topics relevant toPre-K-3 teaching and learning. </li><li>Interest in and evidence of quality service to the profession and community at large </li><li>Demonstrated commitment to diversity and the education of culturally and linguistically diverse populations. </li><li>ABD candidates must earn their doctorate byAugust 1, 2026. </li></ul> <p>Desirable Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Successful experience teaching inPre-K-3inclusion, resource, or self-contained classrooms, in partnership with special educators. </li><li>Demonstrated teaching excellence in culturally and linguistically diverse settings </li><li>Commitment to, knowledge of, and/or experience with the mission and purpose of the University of Hawai'i to position the university as a leading indigenous-serving higher education institution </li><li>Successful experience developing innovative, technology-based courses for delivery to non-traditional students </li><li>Knowledge of Hawai?i State and CAEP accreditation standards and procedures </li><li>Knowledge of and experience working in Professional Development Schools </li><li>Excellent post-secondary teaching in a regionally accredited teacher preparation program </li><li>Evidence of a focused scholarly research agenda that informs the candidate's practice </li></ul> <p>The UHWO Education Division, accredited by CAEP in 2020, prepares knowledgeable, skillful, responsive educators for a global society.
