Here, you will make an impact by:</p> <ul> <li>Lead the development of a fundamental understanding of the mechanical behavior of 3M materials and products. </li><li>Collaborate with a cross-functional team of application engineers, scientists, and process engineers to enable next-generation products via Multiphysics modeling and simulation </li><li>Develop molecular dynamics informed models of soft materials to guide formulators and engineers in identifying appropriate design spaces </li><li>Support simulation engagements with customers </li><li>Understand, develop, and guide the establishment of new computational tools and systems. </li><li>Initiate and contribute to the analysis and development of intellectual property </li></ul> <p>Your Skills and Expertise</p> <p>To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Ph.D. degree (completed and verified prior to start) </li><li>Two(2) years of post-doctoral experience in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or Chemistry in a private, public, government or military environment </li><li>Two (2) years of experience in computational chemistry </li><li>One (1) year of experience applying machine learning algorithms to material design spaces </li></ul> <p>Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with python or another programming language </li><li>Experience with coarse graining techniques </li><li>Understanding of high performance compute environment </li><li>Success in working on global teams, close collaboration with customers and capability to both lead and be a member of high-performance teams. </li><li>Fundamental understanding of soft matter physics and mechanical behavior and polymer synthesis/structure </li></ul> <p>Location: On site in 3M Center - Maplewood MN</p> <p>Travel: May include <10% domestic or international</p> <p>Relocation Assistance: May be authorized</p> <p>Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).</p> <p>Supporting Your Well-being</p> <p>3M offers many programs to help you live your best life - both physically and financially.
