<p>Position Title:</p> <p>Sprinkler Irrigation Tech III ( May underfill at a level II or I)</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Under direction of a district supervisor or manager, performs semi-skilled or skilled plumbing duties involved in new construction, maintenance, repair and remodeling of City owned sprinkler, irrigation systems and facilities.</p> <p>This position is eligible for full city benefits, including:</p> <ul> <li>Health Insurance (95% of premium paid by city) </li><li>Dental, Vision and Life Insurance </li><li>Paid vacation and personal leave </li><li>6-12 weeks of paid parental leave available </li><li>Retirement contributions toward a pension plan and/or 401(k) </li><li>A robust Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) </li><li>Up to $4,000 tuition reimbursement annually </li><li>Discounted supplemental benefits like pet insurance and legal services </li></ul> <p>TYPICAL DUTIES:</p> <ul> <li>Assembles, installs, maintains, and repairs pipes, fittings, valves, heads, and fixtures of irrigation, water, and drainage systems, according to specifications by use of screws, bolts, and plastic solvents. </li><li>Works with all levels of staff to make recommendations and/or adjustments to resolve a variety of irrigation problems and issues; makes visits to survey landscape and soil conditions, determines and implements site requirements, observes system effectiveness and efficiency. </li><li>Installs, tests and maintains systems for automatic or mode operation controls of pumps, valves, and other typical industrial equipment. </li><li>Repairs and services water distribution and sewage facilities, landscape water sprinkler systems, and waste/vent systems, using hand and power tools. </li><li>Reads and interprets blue prints in order to install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metal and non-metal materials. Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, solder, and plastic solvents. </li><li>Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures, water heaters and water softeners, and decorative water fountains piping and pumps. </li><li>Maintains pump stations and back flow preventers in an operable condition and responds to any alarms caused by equipment malfunction. </li><li>Serves as a technical resource for irrigation systems management and water conservation. </li><li>Participates in meetings as required; attend training seminars, vendor demonstrations, and courses to remain current with the latest techniques and technologies. </li><li>Operates heavy equipment, snowplows, blowers, backhoes, or other similar equipment as needed to perform the responsibilities of the position or in emergencies. </li><li>Performs tasks required to complete projects; including preparation and clean up responsibilities. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Sprinkler Irrigation Technician III</p> <ul> <li>High school graduation or GED equivalent. Must have knowledge of sprinkler irrigation components with four years of repair/maintenance experience in the field. </li><li>Ability to read and interpret blue prints, sketches, work orders, drawings and diagrams as required to perform assigned tasks. </li><li>Ability to operate various equipment including hand and power tools. Ability to operate heavy equipment will be required. </li><li>Possession of a valid driver's license or driving privilege card. Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License, Class A will be required, or ability to obtain within six months. </li><li>Requires backflow certification, which must be acquired within six months of employment. </li><li>IPS Glue certification and electrical wire and troubleshooting certification required or must be acquired within six months of employment. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Sprinkler Irrigation Technician II</p> <ul> <li>High school graduation or GED equivalent. Must have knowledge of sprinkler irrigation components with two years of repair/maintenance experience </li><li>Ability to read and interpret blue prints, sketches, work orders, drawings and diagrams as required to perform assigned tasks. </li><li>Ability to operate various equipment including hand and power tools. Ability to operate heavy equipment will be required. </li><li>Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions. </li><li>Possession of a valid driver's license or driving privilege card. Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License, Class A will be required, or ability to obtain within six months. </li><li>Requires backflow certification, which must be acquired within six months of employment. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Sprinkler Irrigation Technician I</p> <ul> <li>High school graduation or GED equivalent. Must have a basic knowledge of sprinkler irrigation components. </li><li>Ability to read and interpret work orders, drawings and diagrams as required to perform assigned tasks. </li><li>Ability to operate various equipment including hand and power tools. Ability to operate heavy equipment may be required. </li><li>Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions. </li><li>Possession of a valid driver's license or driving privilege card. Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License, Class A will be required, or ability to obtain within six months. </li></ul> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Moderately heavy physical activity. Required to push, pull or lift medium to heavy weights. Difficult working positions; may have to stand, walk, or sit in uncomfortable positions for extended periods, and squat or crawl into small spaces. May perform work in trenches, ceilings, on ladders, bucket lifts, scissor lifts and roofs in heights exceeding 100 feet. </li><li>High exposure to disagreeable elements such as dust, fumes, noise, dampness, cold, heat, chemicals, or grease. Exposure to outside weather conditions year round. </li><li>Considerable stress under emergency situations, time constraints, and possible injury and/or death. Variation of job duties due to service interruptions and construction may occur.
