<ol> <li> <p>Completes necessary forms, requisitions and communications necessary to implement orders.</p> </li><li> <p>Sustains proficiency in Computerized Nursing Informatics (information systems).</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains accurate and complete patient records on assigned nursing units by established department policies and procedures, including but limited to:</p> </li></ol> <ul> <li>Initiates and assembles charts </li><li>Assists with obtaining and filing patient Health Care Proxy </li><li>Assists with organizing patient transfers within the hospital to other acute care facilities </li><li>Assists with discharge process of patients from the EMR </li><li>Initiates scheduling of PCP follow-up appointments </li></ul> <ol start="4"> <li> <p>Responds in a professional and courteous manner in all telephone and verbal communications skills with internal and external customers.</p> </li><li> <p>Properly utilizes Nurse Locator for timely communications with nursing staff; and Patient Call system to initiate timely responsiveness to patient call bells.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains patient chart in appropriate functional order as prescribed by hospital policy.</p> </li><li> <p>Represents hospital in the community and within the hospital by maintaining confidentiality regarding patients.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains adequate quantity of forms, materials and supplies on assigned unit.</p> </li><li> <p>Adheres to safety, blood/body fluid policies and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested.</p> </li></ol> <ul> <li>Ability to read, write and communicate in English. </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare informatics systems. </li><li>Successful completion of medical terminology course or successfully pass medical terminology challenge exam. </li><li>Medical Secretary/Medical Receptionist experience preferred. </li></ul>
