<p>UPMC Hamot is hiring a casual Nursing Assistant to join our Trauma-Neuro ICU!</p> <p>Title and Salary will be determined based upon education and experience.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provides direct patient care under RN direction, including bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting, ambulating, turning, and repositioning patients </li><li>Maintains a safe and clean environment: performs safety checks, cleans rooms and equipment, changes linens, empties hampers, clears hallways, and returns equipment </li><li>Acquires and distributes supplies and equipment: messenger functions, ordering, charging/crediting, setting up patient care equipment, stocking rooms and supply areas </li><li>Delivers patient nourishments, fills water pitchers, and distributes mail </li><li>Performs core nursing assistant responsibilities: blood glucose, weights, vital signs, I\&O, specimen collection, Foley care, telemetry monitor application/reapplication, restraint placement/removal, urine specimen collection, and intra-hospital transportation </li><li>Provides feedback to RN and reports changes in patient status </li><li>May apply, monitor, and remove restraints per protocol; provides diversional activities to reduce restraint use </li><li>Responds to call lights, phones, passes meal trays, and transports patients </li><li>Communicates clearly and effectively with healthcare team; demonstrates cultural sensitivity and supports workplace safety </li><li>Accepts feedback, identifies learning needs, and takes action to improve skills and performance </li><li>Suggests and supports departmental changes; assumes responsibility for assignments and problem-solving </li><li>Reports equipment malfunctions and establishes professional, respectful relationships </li><li>Documents patient care accurately and completes clerical tasks as needed </li><li>Complies with all safety policies, standard precautions, and bloodborne pathogen protocols </li><li>Responds to emergent situations within scope of role; provides one-on-one companionship/supervision when required </li><li>Access to medications limited to distribution to nurse </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or GED. </li><li>Successful completion of UPMC nursing assistant training program. </li><li>Knowledge of body mechanics and transfer techniques. </li><li>Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred. </li></ul> <p>Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:</p> <ul> <li>Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. </li><li>Act 34 </li></ul> <p>UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran</p>
