<p>Description</p> <p>The Budget Analyst is an entry-level professional position within the Division of Information Technology (DIT), structured to progress to a full-performance level within approximately 18 months. Under the general supervision of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the analyst assists with the financial management, monitoring, and reporting of the DIT budget, while developing proficiency in institutional budgeting systems and higher education financial processes.</p> <p>Examples of Duties</p> <ul> <li> <p>Coordinate with Admissions to implement recruitment and admissions workflows, processes, and communications in Slate.</p> </li><li> <p>Troubleshoot Slate issues daily and develop processes to log and resolve them.</p> </li><li> <p>Manage daily Slate administration, including user setup, profiles, permissions, and customization.</p> </li><li> <p>Design and maintain portals for various audiences, ensuring necessary updates and enhancements.</p> </li><li> <p>Create and maintain reports and dashboards in Slate to support Admissions needs. • Ensure data integrity and quality across systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as the technical liaison with integration vendors.</p> </li><li> <p>Work with cross-functional teams to address technical issues and improve Slate's pre-arrival process.</p> </li><li> <p>Establish efficient processes within Slate to meet program requirements and streamline enrollment.</p> </li><li> <p>Analyze business processes and recommend solutions in alignment with unit goals.</p> </li><li> <p>Gather and implement feedback for process and procedural improvements.</p> </li><li> <p>Consult with colleagues on using available applications effectively.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in training events (Slate Festival, Slate Summit) and provide follow-up presentations.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other related duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Typical Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.</p> </li><li> <p>Internship, assistantship, or part-time experience in accounting, budgeting, or finance.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with collecting, organizing, and maintaining budget and expenditure data for IT units.</p> </li><li> <p>Support the Budget Manager with financial entries, reconciliations, and documentation.</p> </li><li> <p>Learn institutional accounting codes, budget processes, and fiscal compliance requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare draft reports, spreadsheets, and expenditure summaries under the supervision of a designated authority.</p> </li><li> <p>Help monitor monthly expenses against the budget and identify preliminary variances.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in financial and operational meetings to gain exposure to IT budgeting and planning.</p> </li><li> <p>Build technical skills in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, and financial reporting tools.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform budget tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis with moderate independence.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare periodic financial updates for the CIO, including summaries of key variances and projections, as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate directly with campus accounting and finance offices regarding budget adjustments and reconciliation.</p> </li><li> <p>Contribute to the development of the annual IT budget and assist with multi-year projections.</p> </li></ul> <p>Develop and refine budget dashboards and automated reporting tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.</p>
