Do you have experience designing cloud-native microservices platforms? Do you enjoy providing technical leadership to application and DevOps teams? We're looking for someone to serve as the lead architectural voice for our customer-facing platform--ensuring BIW has a scalable, modern software foundation that meets the evolving needs of our clients.</p> <p>Responsibilities of this position will include:</p> <ul> <li>Evaluate long-term business needs and align them with the overall system architecture. </li><li>Lead strategic architectural decision-making to support future capabilities. </li><li>Collaborate with product owners to brainstorm, define, and design effective solutions. </li><li>Provide technical leadership to architect and design products. </li><li>Establish and uphold technical standards across the platform. </li><li>Mentor development leads and architects across the organization (influence without direct management). </li><li>Security -- Ensure applications and environments are secure to industry and BIW standards, and that we have strategies and processes to remain secure. </li><li>Partner with DevOps and Infrastructure teams to align application and infrastructure strategies. </li><li>Interact with and influence all members of product teams including product owner, engineering manager, front and back-end developers, QA, UX/designers, management. </li><li>Play a key role in incident response and resolution of critical issues. </li><li>Stay informed about emerging technologies--evaluate their potential, and lead integration where appropriate. </li></ul> <p>Ideal candidates will possess the following requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Proven experience architecting and designing cloud-native, microservices-based platforms. </li><li>12+ years of experience in application development, including 5+ years in a software architect role. </li><li>Ability to translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical designs. </li><li>Hands-on experience with modern technology stacks, including: </li><li>JavaScript, Java </li><li>Kubernetes, Docker </li><li>Kafka, PostgreSQL </li><li>CDNs, CI/CD pipelines </li><li>Deep understanding of agile methodologies and modern software development practices. </li><li>Strong communication skills, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders. </li><li>Ability to mentor and guide senior technical talent. </li><li>Equally comfortable coding, doing code reviews, making technology design and platform decisions, explaining technical concepts and decisions, talking with Product Owners about product features, and/or talking with executive leaders about technology. </li></ul> <p>Security & Platform Health Focus</p> <p>In addition to the above, also ensure all applications and environments are:</p> <ul> <li>Secure -- aligned with industry and BIW security standards </li><li>Performant -- delivering fast and consistent user experiences </li><li>Observable -- with logging, tracing, and monitoring for proactive insights </li></ul> <p>https://www.biworldwide.com/careers/benefits-page/</p>
