<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>THIS IS A RE-ADVERTISEMENT. PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED NOT REAPPLY. YOUR APPLICATION IS STILL BEING CONSIDERED.</p> <p>Performs skilled manual labor and operates various equipment such as a mini excavator and a bucket truck in a variety of activities associated with the construction, repair, and preservation of bridges on the state highway system. Examples include grading, mowing, sweeping, setting forms, pouring/finishing concrete, cutting, painting, installing and placing steel sections. Operates specialized equipment that may include, but is not limited, to a snooper truck and crawler. Performs a variety of bridge maintenance activities using equipment such as complex saws, power tools, measuring devices, and welders. Performs placement of traffic control devices to properly set up a maintenance work zone according to the SCDOT Work Zone Traffic Control Manual and Field Guide to warn motorists. Operates equipment during emergency and inclement weather operations; may include being available for extended working hours or 12-hour shifts. Operates heavy equipment that may include, but is not limited to, a lowboy truck tractor, excavator, and front-end loader. Performs other related duties as assigned.</p> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>Two (2) years of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator 's license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.</p> <p>The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather.</p> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>Applications accepted on-line at careers.sc.gov.
