<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Ledyard Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Art Teacher for Gales Ferry School and Juliet W. Long School beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the School Administrator to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Encourage each student to develop an interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, using skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent with school guidelines. </li><li>Promote and develop talents of students in the field of art. </li></ul> <p>Additional Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other Administrators as designated by the Superintendent. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>CT Certification (042) recommended/required but will consider other appropriate certification in the area of art </li><li>Demonstrated excellence in teaching elementary school students preferred </li><li>Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, support staff, and parents </li><li>Success using a variety of teaching styles that facilitate independent and group learning activities </li><li>Ability to organize and coordinate work </li><li>Promotes a positive learning environment responsive to and respectful of the needs of students </li><li>Continues to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research </li><li>Enthusiasm for teaching and learning </li></ul> <p>Salary and Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>Per the Ledyard Education Association agreement </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach </li><li>Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times </li><li>Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child </li></ul> <p>To Apply:</p> <p>Applications will only be accepted online.
